Past soccer coach was sleeping with a 17 year old senior. Nothing illegal, just very unethical. Current soccer coach, cool-no problems.

Nothing illegal? It is illegal for an adult to engage in any type of sexual activity with a minor, consensual or not. Statutory rape I believe is the correct terminology.
Sleeping with a 17 year old is illegal, along wth immoral and unethical. Especially given the position that he was in, one of authority and guidance.
Just wanted to correct that misconception.

Oh parents of SV kids, read carefully: The school isn't that wonderful. The curriculum is way less than that of the public school across the town. And the attitudes and behaviors of the students are the same as that of any student at any school. While you may feel that your son or daughter is getting a Christian education, they are not.
Daily on the buslot of PHS, where I am a proud senior, I see the same group of SV sixth and seventh graders pick on the same little boy. He never says anything to them. But he gets on the bus and tells me that he wishes things were different. Have those children not been given a lesson in respect? At PHS this sort of behavior isn't tolerated, but at SV it is ignored. I've encouraged him to come to PHS. He can still go to mass whenever he feels like it, but at least he will make new friends. I pray for him and now I will start praying for you, because as parents it is your job to teach your children right from wrong. I hope that he comes to a decision, with his parents help, that will give him the best learning experiance. SV isn't right for all the children that go there. That is a shame.

well phs senior you need to take to your name sake and not point fingers. give peace a chance? I went to phs and know personaly there is a difference. you have a one sided biased story here. you don't know what the cirriculum is. there are standards no matter if it is a private or public school. there are people that agree with SV being wonderful and you cannot change that. you will learn as you get older and more mature. I know you love your school and you should but that does not give you the right to point fingers. every school and every business for that matter has problems and children have their own personalities also, so yes you are going to see the same type of mischievious deeds being done? let me ask you this .... did you stand up for what is right and tell those that were picking on that kid to lay off? I hope you put a stop to this activity no matter who is doing this to whom! Do you not see daily activity that may be questionable? at any standard? I think you have blinders on. I am not saying that PHS is a horrible school, I went there, but I am saying that you don't have the right to make accusations against something you haven't a clue about. Have you ever went to school at SV? do you know what kind of education they give? do you know any thing about the school other than they are considered rivals in our one horse town? You students have the ability to make this communtity a wonderful place for yourselves and believe it or not but for your children too. I don't mean to sound negative to you, you are just the one that has gotten on here to speak your mind and you should be proud to be able to do so, I am saying this to all students. they are getting the christian education that you say. you are in a public school, there are laws against teaching those things in public schools. just because some kids don't act out their faith does not mean they aren't being taught what is right and wrong, and just because they do get that education does not mean they are better than you. how can you say this activity is ignored at SV? you see this on the bus parking lot at PHS where you state this is not tolerated? has there been any teachers involved? if not..why not? You are right about one thing.. SV is not for everyone but it is not your place to say who it is right for and who it is not. you don't live in there shoes and you are only scraping the barrel of life. and one day you will understand that it is not that cut and dry. decisions are made that may not suit the reat of the world but those decisions are not the worlds to make. have you ever asked that kid how many friends he has at school(SV).whatmakesyou think he will make friends at PHS? somee kids are not social butterflys like some others. I think it is your duty,as one that is willing to stand up for what is right,to make sure this activity comes to a stop. alert the teachers on the bus lot. one last thing. you really don't know if it is a shame if you really don't know the circumstances involved. ignorance is a shame when it causes trouble where trouble could be avoided.

For all you folks out there who are concerned as to why Mrs. Watts was fired, no offense but I really don't see why it is any of your business. If someone were fired from TG would you be as concerned and feel that you had the right to know the circumstances? For the record, just because someone has held a position for 20 plus years does NOT make them an exemplary employee. I know Mrs. Watts and have for years, and have witnessed some extraordinary unprofessional and unproductive behavior that after years of abuse, could warrant a dismissal. If any of you people are owners of your own company you would know that when your employee is not productive and they are continually insubordinate, you have to take action. You cannot continue to cover for them (ie. do their job for them because they won't or have parent volunteers come in when they want to take the FIRST week of school off for vacation every year!!!) or look the other way because it affects the entire system. I have my own business and it is difficult to manage the money, employees, moral, equipment, etc. and still maintain my sanity and family life. Perhaps Mrs. Watts is a happier person now that she does not have to go to work every day. It could have been a blessing in disguise.

Also, for all you people out there who think SV parents, kids, teachers, priests, etc. are snobs, then I am sorry for you. But, it is dangerous to lump everyone together without knowing us all. And as far as claiming that SV has cliques. Yes they do and so does the rest of the world, yourself included. How so? Here's a scenario, when you go to a party or let's say the Seminary Picnic. Do you talk to everyone? Or do you only talk to the people you like, and know? Isn't that acting like you are in a clique? It is. How can we expect out children to talk and be friends and hang out with everyone in their class? We can't, and we as adults don't even do it ourselves. What I teach my children is that they are expected to be nice and kind to everyone, regardless if the feelings are reciprocated or not and my children see me doing it as well to the best of my ability.

The debate over which school in Perryville is the best has been going on for generations. It is a battle that will never be won. In Perryville, we are fortunate to have three good schools to choose from, other one horse towns don't have that option.

By the way, "your own words", I like the way you think.

Actually, from what I heard from an attorney it wasn't illegal. The parents could have filed a civil suit because of his position but didn't want to do that to their daughter.(Who in my opinion was just as guilty) And for anyone who says the same thing doesn't happen at PHS, you are full of it. I am not from Perryville and my child goes to PHS (we're not Catholic) so as an "outsider" I see the good and bad of each side. And to those who say SVHS kids don't act like they are getting religion, they are normal teenagers. My parents took me to church every time the doors were open and I still made mistakes. At least the parents (both PHS and SVHS) who take their children to church or put them in religious classes are trying their best to raise their children the best way they believe. The bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Doesn't mean he/she won't stray...but at least it's always there in their foundation.

I know all about Christain Behaviors_ problems with her daughter. Her real problems stem from tournament soccer and a certain coach?!? His snobby influence on those kids is more powerful than you think. Don't you think that him and his wife act like they run the school? Children follow their parents lead, including the girls that "bullied" your daughter. It is sad, because they are ruining their own kids chance at real friends & that school!! You cannot buy friends.

Both schools has their own troubles. You have kids picking on kids on the buses all the time. I have to say I have told my kids you treat other kids the way you want to be treated and if you see a older kid picking on a younger kid you get help for that kid. My son will stand up for any kid on the bus / he will also stop any kid from hurting a younger kid.

Bravo!!! I also have a daughter that was taught the sameway. She will stand up to those that are bullying, regardless of the age.

Most people end up getting tired of the B.S. by the time their child/children get into eight or ninth grade. I really want my kids to have a Catholic education, but some of the teachers there give the place a bad rap. I could tell you of a few who would refuse to help a struggling student, blaming the student who QUOTE: "should have paid more attention in class". It would only help me out if the high school closed, so I could save the money toward my kids' college education.

I think it sounds like the catholic way again, money, lies and deceit. Just like the alter boy scandals. Why do think catholism used to be out lawed centuries ago. Some one knew the church's ways were evil. Wont' every one sh&@ when you die and you don't go anywhere after you gave all that money to the church, when you had bills to pay, when you were alive. Oh well you won't care. Your dead! Your loved ones will have to deal with the bills, but the pope will be living high on the hog.

Won't everyone just sh*t when you die and you dont go anywhere after you gave all of your money to the church instead of removing the finacial burden from you family before you died. Pearly gates, golden city, come people. Oh well! It won't be your problem. It will be your families burden to pay off the bills that did'nt get paid because you gave it to the church. But the pope will be living high on the hog and the new roof that they did not need, looks good on the church. Why do you think that catholism was out-lawed back in the old days. At least someone figured it out.

We can single them out, but the teachers themselves know who they are. Especially when you talk to parents, whom their child went through their class a year or so prior, and had the same problem. Why are so many children on medication for A.D.D. or A.D.H.D. today? We think they have a problem, so we run to the family physician to find a cure for their "bad grades". I'm not saying "ALL" children shouldn't be on that kind of medication, but I am willing to bet HALF or MORE don't really need to be taking it.
