you are so right worked there. people tend to think of abuse as hitting but abuse and neglect in a nursing home is so much more. isn't it sad that you have 100 people living in a building and only 4 people to take care of them. the bosses seem to think and will tell you they have more people in the building, and they usually do, but only the 4 aides on the halls are the ones taking care of the residents. the nurses and med techs have to do their jobs too or they get written up for not finishing paperwork. and the don sits in her office gosiping and watching monitors but not helping on the floor. (let's not forget she has a BAD back) as do es anyone who works all day caring for the patients. Just because a place is clean doesn't mean it's a good place.

I've worked at ICC for a bit now and can tell you it gets discouraging as any job. We were just notified we were getting a raise. A whole 2 percent next year apporoved by the board! We sure mean a lot to them. I mean like wow! I could go out and buy.......... practically nothing with all the new money I will be gettin! Thank you Miss Administrator and other bosses for showing your appreciation to us in such a nonessential way!

Just because they tell you, you will get a 2% raise don't mean that's what you will get. They will knock off for all the times someone has called in, on your performance, which by the way, the boss don't even rate you on, they have another employee do that. If they think you have wrinkled uniforms most of the time you will get knocked down for that. So really don't intend on getting the whole 2%.

You ought to show up in the morning and see the condition of the residents or arrive at 10:30 at night and see how many are still up and have been sitting in urine and the same position for hours!

I am close to someone who is a resident there. I have never witnessed any abuse of any kind. The Nursing Staff are very caring and pleasant. They have a very hard job.
you are appreciated

I have worked in Nursing Homes before. I have to say, that it is the hardest job. You get attached to so many of the residents. But you are right, it is a hard job physically as well. My back would kill me after a shift of running up and down those long hard hallways, not to mention the lifting. The rewards are gained by knowing that you made someone feel better, and the you left your residents clean and cared for. They just do not pay enough, for all the work

you could have the best heart and it would never be enough. The nursing homes hire ex-con that possibly could steal the residents blind but at least it was a warm body to put the old folks to bed.(RIGHT) just ask the people in charge (SERIOUSLY GO AHEAD AND ASK THEM!!!) It is sad cuz no matter what ya did it wouldn't be good enough. I cant stand the pathetic families that demanded their family member be put to bed first who sat there and complained.(possibly too lazy to want to do for themselves) I prefer to help the people that couldn't speak or do for themselves not the lazy resident who thinks their s**t smell better then all the rest of the residents' s**t. I wish some of these family members would put their money or their family members money where their mouth was!!come work for you and your family member anytime ya want!

This place has probably been the worst job i have ever had.....iloved taking care of the residents. But when you work with 2 people on each wing..it gets kinda crazy...they need to learn how to staff better. 2 people putting over 40 people to bed is alot of work..My back would kill me. they barely mandate there. The only shift that ever gets mandated is the evening shift and most times they would have to stay 16 hours because people that work on dayshift do not answer their phone because they know that its the nursing home calling and they dont wanna work. And also the superiors need to learn not to be so rude to their employees...Its pathetic that the employees get treated like shit. I dont know why anyone would want to work there. But thats just my opinion
