Some people are not lucky enough to have a good enough job to live in a house. I agree they are good and bad people where ever you are, drugs are everywhere the rich and the poor houses.!!!!!If you are lucky enough to have a house and a good job then Thank GOD and stop putting people down that can't afford it. 19 yrs ago I was living in lakeside as a single mother ( not on welfare ) working and paying my own rent and its all I could afford.!!! I had 3 kids and they grew up just fine.!!!! Yes I was lucky enough to meet a GREAT man who changed my world and now I live in a 4 bedroom house.!!!! But that don't make me any better than anyone else it just makes me lucky.!!!!

Lakeside - There is a difference in being poor and having no pride! A lot of times you hit bottom and loose all hope and sense of pride. Folks there need to find that self respect and pride and clean the place up. I am sure if others ban together to do this it would spread. We could reach out to the more "well off" communities to help as well. I am sure many would be willing to assist hauling some of the crap away if needed.
I too used to be very poor and I get it. But you cannot lose your self respect and pride folks!

If you rid the place of the heroin and crack addicts, then you might be just a tad successful in a cleanup. Otherwise it is just a waste of time. Drug addicts are not interested in self respect and pride. They just want to know where their next fix is coming from.

Jorge, why not legalize drugs to identify junkies and offer the them a life in a colony separate from good people (non drug users), sterilize them so they donít have kids, give them all the drugs they want for the rest of their lives, however short it may be in one generation we could rid society of junkies and crackheads, along with taking the profit away from organized crime. Just something to think about.

Genius idea, until you realize the rights that our men and women in uniform fight for. No, not the right to do drugs, but our freedom. I certainly don't condone drug use, and hate users/dealers actually, but as much as I'd love to do that, it'll never happen. I see what you are trying to do, just never ever ever will it be realistic!

Just a little tidbit, in 1987 the cost of the war on drugs for the city of new york alone was 5 billion. As much as we gave Israel in military aid that year. My idea would cost much less and clean up the streets, and would be voluntary. I thought 5 Billion would never ever be realistic. And people fighting for freedom well they also fight to make the country a better place. If the subjects of my speculative colony wanted out all they would have to do is get off drugs.

I live in Lakeside, why can't the town send letters to clean up by a certain date or get a fine? this place is dirty looking.
Do you still live in Lakeside? Was wondering if it is as bad as everyone says? If there is a place there that's affordable, should a person stay clear? Thanks!

neighbor1. yes I live here, been here for 11 years, never had a problem with anyone, and never had anything stolen, I also have 2 daughters that live in here they also have never had problems. it is bad here but if you stay to yourself and mind your own business you'll be fine. it's not the ideal place to live but you do what you have to do.

I agree, keep your nose clean, mind your own business,
and don't draw attention to yourself.
