okay maybe the law works differently for a 15yo v. 16yo but how is it he is arrested and charged and she goes back to mom and dad? BOTH of these kids made a choice to act as they did not giving a care to those looking for them....i do know this is not the first time this young girl has done something so dramatic like this .......hmmm anyway just my thoughts on this ....I am however thankful that BOTH of them are safe, unharmed and home.....this could have had a so soo much different outcome......they are home but have they learned anything from any of it....hmmmmmmm probably not and given the chance would probably do it again,,,,

Hopefully he is going to be charged with rape and kidnapping, these teen boys need to be taught a hard lesson. That's why Loving has the highest teen birth rates in the state.

probably because he is 16 and she is 15......
It really doesn't matter if they are only days apart in age, somehow that magic number of 1 is very important in laws reguarding rape.

The magic number is 4 years apart when a child is in their teens. Hmm, they can find runaways easier because they are not taken by someone, have someone hiding their identity, someone reported a missing minivan with ID numbers, and they are 15, and 16 who were leaving a trail. Hopefully, there is no reason to charge the male for anything other than what he is charged. If that was to happen, then the law needs to go back and charge every teen father with rape. Psychologically, males are 4 years behind females, therefore, the 16 yr old is behind mentally than the girl, so, should the girl be charged with rape? No, I dont think so, and he should not be charged. The boy did not kidnap her, she left on her own.

what are they going to do 5 yrs from now if they decide to run away together again, send them to prison?? stupid laws, we was both young my wife and i when we eloped 40 yrs ago,and were still happily married, we had to go to texas to get married due to our age, ive seen adults getting married with fancy weddings and 4 or 5 yrs later reading about them divorcing in the newspaper.

ok 666. I do not know what your problem is, but obvioulsy I know a little more than what you do law wise and psychological wise. You got it now Charles?
He was Charged

I believe he was charged because he stole the vehicle used to runaway.
I do agree that this girl should have been charged with something.
Accessory to grand theft.
As for this boy being charged with rape? Yeah ok, this girl I'm sure happily and willingly engages with whatever acts you think they have committed.
Are you saying boys are more mentally mature then girls therefore should take responsibilty for consensual encounters?
Some people are just really stupid, or just like to come on here in hopes of raising someone's eyebrows.

i bet we here how they take off again, the boy shouldnt have been charged, they are both young and they think their in love, like i stated earlier best thing to do is set guidelines for them to prove how mature they are to the parents. it will keep them from running off, if i was the parents of the girl i would, that way i at least wouldnt have to worry about her taking off.

Please re-read my comment, you have read it wrong. I never wrote boys are more mentally mature than girls. If I were you, I would re-read my comment from the beginning to the end, not just take once sentence and get it backwards. Also, there was a little sarcasm in it.

I'm glad that they located these kids and brought some relief to the worried parents. It may not solve the underlying problem as to why they left in the first place, but at least its a start.
