Hi. My wife and I are Americans currently living in London, England. We are thinking of moving to Colorado for quality of life reasons. Our house in London has appreciated like crazy and we are thinking of "cashing out". I recently found some very nice l0ooking properties for sale in Perry Park. Was wondering if anyone had views on (a) life in Denver area in general and (b) life in Perry Park specifically. We just had our first baby and want a friendly and safe place to raise a family. My wife is Jewish and we are both politically pretty liberal. Thanks!

Great area, very friendly people. You make a statement that you're politically very liberal. If you want to be around like-minded people then I would recommend Denver city proper or Boulder (or as the rest of us affectionately refer to it - "The People's Republic of Boulder". But Coloradans are a friendly bunch and I'm sure you'll feel welcome dispite your misguided politics.:)

We lived in Castle Rock for 7 years before an opportunity to move to the Pacific NW. Castle Rock is a very nice, very conservative, very white town. Plus they are going to have water problems within the next 10 years. Like Doc I would suggest Boulder or Fort Collins rather then the Douglas county area. Both are college towns with a small town atmosphere without the religious right mindset.

Be sure to check the water situation in any area around the Denver metropolital, particularly the south subburbs where a lot of the growth is. A few of the new developments may be done without adequate planning for wells, and it can be an unwelcome surprise if a homeowner has to cover a bill to sink a new well later on.

Also, if you settle on the PR of Boulder, be sure to bring your patience at election time. It could take awhile to count all the votes, a good long while.
