It really is becoming the American way that if you don't like some one having the same rights as you just put it up for a vote by the people.

Your not discriminating against anyone as long as you say you don't believe in discrimination. Do these people not see how [email protected] stupid they are?

That type of bill pass in Detroit but small business still discriminate on transpeople. I know I'm a transgender I'm out there every day and I have a nice resume in food service no chef will hire me because of who I am.

I'm grateful that Councilman Tom Quirk and his fair minded colleagues have passed this bill. The news from Baltimore County will now be filled with everything EXCEPT trans people causing crimes in public restrooms. I can safely predict this because the same has happened in EVERY jurisdiction that has passed similar nondiscrimination laws.

Laws such as this are only a first step. We still need to educate people and to devise ways of proving and prosecuting violations of these statutes. The social changes will be slow in coming but at least the laws are in place in the many places so that process has another mechanism by which it can be moved forward.
