I'm hopeful, but at the same time optimistically cautious because Politicians do tend to say one thing and do another........but at least it sounds positive, unless of course you read the last part by the Republican idiot!!!!

From the article, "'I coach a little girl on the soccer team with my daughter; she has two moms,' he said.'It became so abundantly clear just the inequity to her parents and also to her. It became impossible to ignore the fact that my little girl and her parents should have the same rights as the other little girl and her parents.'"

THIS is why we all need to be out and open with people about who we are. I can't tell you the number of people I've known over the years that have said to me, "I used to be really anti-gay, but since I've got to know a few gay folks, I'm not anymore. You guys are no different that the rest of us."

(and I always think to myself, "Yep! We're just as screwed up as everyone else is....")

Totally agree. That's what Harvey Milk was advocating 30 years ago!

I can almost hear that bell of freedom ringing. The Free State; FIRST in religious tolerance should do this NOW. This Great State is a beacon of democracy and tolerance and should move swiftly to assure the equal rights of all of it's citizens whether we agree with their beliefs or not. True tolerance is the acceptance of the beliefs of others whether we respect those beliefs or not. "So Let Freedom Ring!"

We need this Rep to do a speaking tour, especially with his wife and daughter as co-speakers.

I used to do "information discussions" with different groups in the city of St. Louis. They were usually social services organizations that asked for representatives of the gay community to talk to their members about the issues faced by gays and lesbians. in 100% of the meetings, at some point one of them would say the same thing, altho in different says, "You folks are no different than we are". The more things change the more they remain the same.
