Close the park down. These kids were given a park and they destroyed it. Why should the borough pay to fix it?

They did this to themselves. They have no one to blame but themselves.

i say sell the park to another community with interest, time and management to run a facility like this and take the money and invest it in downtown revitalization.

Unfortunately, this new found freedom for the kids was taken advantage of and they ruined their chance.

After all, you, me and all taxpayers helped buy this and why should it be ruined. Sell it, ake the money and run and put it to something the entire town could join.

My guess is that there is some money Qtown could get from selling it.

Sadly, it appears that the assumption is all of the kids that use the skate park participated in the vandalism. Again a few ruin it for many.

Once again, the taxpayers get raped. This never should have been built in the first place. Waste of money, time, and effort. The Borough would be better off having spent their resources working on restoring the freight train line to Beth Intermodal, kicking Skiffington out of landlording over Bush (crack) house, helping draw customers to their great downtown shops. But NOOOOO, cater to the disrespectful little brats. Go to the Regal on a weekend night. 9 out of 10 of the kids are evil little hoodlums.

Where are the Quakertown Police? Sitting in the station or donut shop instead of out on patrol.

I agree, but its too bad. We just cannot keep throwing money in a tight economy at something that is not taken care of properly.

Bottom line...sometimes a few do ruin it, but thats the way it is. We gave them a chance, the borough warned them not to damage the park and to use it properly.

if you cannot act like an adult, then we will treat you like a child and take away your toy. Simple!

30 kids riding bikes and moving pieces around, spray painting ect. ect..is not a few.

My son loves that skate park, it is near to our home and he and his friends use it a lot. I will talk to him and his group to make sure they aren't part of the hooliganism.

Ok if you get rid of the park you are going to have kids rideing down the street, Useing park benches as ramps and pratically running us over.
That is why it was built in the first place. Chances are the kids who use it didn't destroy it.

They should make it a community service project for the kids who use it. Have them chip in and restore what was vandalized. The kids who help can somehow get special privs or something.
Or utilize the "second chance" measures that I read about the site a few weeks ago.

If you take away the only place where kids can go and be a kid they are just going to be board and look for something else to do. That can spell trouble.

In my day as a kid...if we were given something of this magnitude or cost...we would respect it, want to keep it in good condition and ridicule others who damage it.

Unfortunately, kids think everything is free and they should get whatever they want...spoiled brats really!

Its like when you see an 8 year old with a new bike, he/she treats it with respect, keeps it in tip-top shape, washes it, hates to see knicks on it...well not the skate park.

I hope the borough closes it ..teaches them a lesson. I guarantee kids will be going to council begging that it won't happen again, they will take care of it ect...

really, you build a skate park and charge admission, then take down the fence and it's free and you expect it to remain the same?

The same thing would happen if they opened up something for adults to do. if they charged asmission and had a fence around it it would remain nice, but as soon as the fence came down, it would brng in the riff-raff. it is not only kids who do this.

They never said what damage was done. Spray paint? thats not damage, go to any skate park in america and look around. it is all tagged up by the kids.

bicyclist? they didnt cause the damage. i dont think they understand that biker ride on the same ramps that skaters do in parks across the country.

it is the the fault of all the kids, just the bad ones. maybe they should hire someone to monitor it, instead of them letting them govern themselves.

This park was a great idea. when i was a skater in my early through late teens, i would have to skate in my driveway or pay $25 to go to the park on 309. I wish that there was a place for me to go when i was a kid, but there wasnt.

i say, let them spray paint it, nothing offensive. let them move the ramps around, they know how they want the ramps and it really doesnt hurt anything. let the kids make it thier own, instead of making it what adults think it should be. let the bikers ride on the ramps, inline skates can do a lot more damage to the ramps than bikers can.

the police should roll through there on a regular basis and the kids that are found to be without proper protection gear should be given a $5 or $10 fine. it may not sound like much, but look in most kids wallet and you will see they ussually only have 5 bucks. take that $5 or $10 and use it to help the park, repair, mantainence, etc.

the park is a good idea, imo. you shouldnt take it way from the kids.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
