Why no train service for Christmas day or the day after Christmas?

Because on those two weekdays, the state employees probably aren't working, thus there is no need for this commuter service.

What about the tourists? They are the ones spending money here.

Thus far, Santa Fe is not getting one of the important benefits we expected from the RailRunner: a rail connection to the ABQ airport. You can only ride from the SunPort station to Santa Fe during rush hours. In the middle of the day, there are separate, non-connecting schedules for south of ABQ and north. And, of course, there is no evening service.
On weekdays, you can only take a train from the SunPort station to SF at 5:10, 6:11 and 7:21AM, and 6:09 PM. Between 7AM and 6PM your only option is to take a longer bus ride to ABQ and catch a train from there at 10:37 AM and 4:15, 5:21 and 6:35PM. That's it.

expected the train to go to the airport expected something that the rest of us knew wasn't ever going to happen.

This is a commuter line, not an airport shuttle.

Someday they will catch on and make it a reliable Sunport link. NM is just not as smart as other states--they need extra time. We have all learned to be VERY patient.

Judging from bumper stickers alone, NM id still smarter than Montana, Alabama and Mississippi! Though, it's a dubious acheivement.
