I usually shop locally, if not possible it's La Montanita (Market Place) the name used as part of the sale between old and new owners. Sunflower markets were opened by the same guy involved with Whole Foods. Speaking of WF they are over priced, have bad employee relations and play to an upper class clientale. Sure miss Alfalfa's, Wild Oats and the old coop on Agua Fria. The rest is a political bag of competition. Remember the 8 women who sued Whole Foods, 5 of them were paid for the abuses. Interesting how they boast, smoke and mirrors, look beyond the ****. Buy your produce locally, Farmers Market all the way!!
Sunflower was opened by the founder of Wild Oats, not Whole Foods and while Wild Oats can be considered a natural food store, Sunflower can not. The old coop on Agua Fria is La Montanita Co- Op and it is on Alameda.

is not accurate. They haven't been open long enough to establish a customer base. Some of us haven't even been in there yet.

They simply overhired. Whether that was a calculated strategy to start big and weed out the deadwood later or being over-optimistic, I don't know.

Sunflower produce is not "grade A" . They get cheap prices based on the age and grade, folks in Albuquerque have already blogged about this. You need to consume within a day or 2 or it goes bad. Santa Fe lves their Trader Joes, but guess what all you "local driven shoppers"....get ready...TRADER JOES IS A BIG FAT CORPORATE CHAIN THAT MAKES GOBS OF MONEY. why aren't more of you at Kaune's or La Montinita Co-op? They need your support more than ever to survive this economy. Trader Joes and Sunflower and Whole Foods....rich beyond belief. TAKE YOUR MONEY TO LOCALS.
Anyone with a brain knows that buying lesser quality produce is their niche .

There are people who left jobs to go to Sunflower...I would think a class action suite could be in order???? Also, I noticed last night (Sat) that they had raised some prices in order to put them on sale at a higher price than the original.. Not a good sign.. Per- haps I have defended them too much?
