Right after the 1984 Flood, the State of NJ expanded the flood zone and included my home in the flood area. I was told the purpose of this was to be eligible for more Federal Funds. The problem is that by including my home in the flood area, the value of my home dropped dramatically. But needless to say, I am still being appraised at the pre-flood area rates. Once again the people get screwed. Thanks for nothing NJ !!!

I sympathize with you, I lived there in 84 could have lost my husband,13 year old son and my own life. Lived on the island off of Fairfield Road only access to our homes before the flood was walk bridge after the flood, boat.
We sold the house to Green Acres 3 years after the flood and got out of there. In our case it was a blessing as the houses were worth nothing without access.
I loved the area and the tranquility the area brought to us, but the repercussions the massive flood brought those feeling to an end. Wish you well.
