An average car holds 16 to 20 gallons of gas, Is it worth a 9 to 14 mile trip "one" way to save less than $2.00... You probably break even at best.

Shouldn't we be trying to support our local business owners whenever possible,,, whether as residents or existing local business owners ?

I have seen up to .30 difference between the price of gas in Ayer and Fitchburg. No I will not support my local business so he can rip me off.

Hey Paul...Denny's has cheaper breakfast than The Spa. Are you saying we should all head there instead of coming to your family business? Actually, anywhere is cheaper than The Spa. You make good food, but charging me $6 for frozen pancakes is a bit much. And your grumpy attitude is always lovely.

Whenever possible, I fill up at Advantage on Main St. It keeps my dollars local and benefits a local business. If the difference in price was $5.00 a tank or something, then I would have to look out for my family budget first and shop elsewhere though.

What was the purpose of this article in a local paper?

Seems pretty weird to me that a local business owner would be anti-local spending in these tough economic times over pennies....hence the "Denny's referance" from Tom I guess.

Wow !!

What Paul is saying is that if we can save a penny getting breakfast somewhere other than The Spa (which he owns) we should go there instead. Thanks for the advice Paul! I guess thinking I was supporting a local business was wrong of me all these years and over paying you for my meals. I can just head to Nashua and get all you can eat Pancakes at Ihop for $4.99!!

If Dave Lorden would have joined our table, this would have never happened.

Give Paul a break, if Dunstable gas is cheaper than Pepperell, there is a problem.

a local business owner is telling others not to support a local business????
How brilliant is that?

Isn't Paul a part of the Pepperell Business Association? I wonder how well this is going over with them!

And as for the comments above, yeah, I think his pancakes are frozen but the kids like it there so we go. I support the local guy. And I am fine paying a few cents more for gas locally as it washes out in the end as I would pay more to drive to Nashua and in the end...saving maybe $1 isn't worth it to me.

However, I may think twice now about paying top dollar for those frozen pancakes at the spa! Besides, all we are supporting is a loan shark!:)

Always but out of Pepperell. The greed of these local Gas owners is filtered down of the biger company's who truck the gas and oil. Paul is most likley buy other things in New Hampshire where it is Tax free or on his way to Fox Woods to gamble.

Hey "Jody"...did you read the 1st 3 lines of the story?

Paul Bozicas hasn't stopped in at gas stations in downtown Pepperell in a while.

There is no need to check their prices, the local storeowner says. He already knows gas is cheaper outside of town.

You say it was you who said this to the reporter but I do not see a "Jody" mentioned. Maybe you should ask the reporter to clarify this as it does make Paul look pretty bad.

He is a nice guy and I enjoy his place...but after reading this I am scratching my head.

To the reporter: If this is indeed incorrect, you need to fix it asap before Paul is bashed anymore. If it is correct, shame on Paul.

Still, the question remains - why is gas in Pepperel costing us $.17 -$.20 per gallon more than next door? We're getting screwed big time! We Pepperellites are pretty loyal as a rule, but getting shafted like this is too much. Why is gas costing us this much more than Nashua or Dunstable when it comes from the same tanker and in some cases the same truck. Even the same owner of the same brand in at least one case. Let them explain why we should continue to be loyal or use common sense like Paul and gas up when you are out of town.

i ran out of space as for the comments about supporting a loan shark if you mean being able to borrow a couple bucks for a couple days and you are very well known to him he might lend you 20 bucks but you would have to be on the short list as far as him being grumpy some times well that is true but he is definately not a phoney he tells it like it is

So for all of you who are wondering. It was NOT my dad ( paul bozicas) who said that about not buying local gas!!!!!! It was Jody Lohnes who sid it...and ADMITTED this to my dad ~ as well.He Used my dads name as a joke when interviewed probably not realizing the effects it would have or even realizing it would get in th paper!. Please!!!!!! I think my dads smarter to make a comment like that. Of course he and his wife are pro-local business! The lowell sun has been contacted. And will be making correction in paper!
