THIS COMPANY HAS HAD THEIR AZ CONTRACTORS LICENSE REVOKED TWICE!
Their CA Contractors License (#914114) is under disciplinary action (7/25/2011).

Now they are operating under the names of:
Scott Byron Call (aka: Brian)
Aqua Azul Pool
Azul Azul Pool Tiling
Scall Property Group
Bahia Glass
Bahia Glass Tile

Phoenix,AZ BBB ratings of: F

They are using CHEAP & INFERIOR Chinese glass tile. The tile will crack and decay in a swimming pool. Their installation methods are shoddy at best and do not follow industry practices. Your money will be "down the drain."

Aqua Azul has tiled over 1000 swimming pools and have only issues with maybe five or six pools. aqua azul has won numerous award both nationally and Internationally for it's standard of work. The company has always worked hard to make the customer satisfied.
All complaints where handled except one and that customer was never going to settle. In Arizona, it is to the home owners advantage to have the contractors license revoked. Once this happens, the home owner can them make a claim against the states contractors compensation fund. This was always the goal of this client.

Aqua Azul license in is active and in good standing. The one citation is being appealed and the court date has been set in Oct 2012.
This stems from a tile tile where aqua Azul wotked a a sub contractor on a job and the hoem owner sued the pool service company for not maintaining the correct chemical balance in the water that caused surface calcium to form on top of the tiles. aqua azul made several trips to the pool and even supplied the correct chemicals to the pool service company to stop the calcium fall out but the pool servie company nvered used them. aqua Azul was named as a second party in this suit. The suit has now been settled with no fault against Aqua Azul. For the appeal Aqua azul has numrous expert testimonies stating that it's process of setting tile is in accordance with all current practises. Aqua azul also installs all tile following the manufacturers installtion guide on both material and labor. it is always in full complaince with all US and international standards.

DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR HE'S OPERATING IN BOTH ARIZONA/CALIFORNIA.

I too have been ripped off by Scott Call and wish that these complaints had been available when I had my pool done. The tile work he did for us took over 2 months to complete for a simple water line and spa and has so many issues with workmanship that I had to have it replaced entirely. He weaves a story of having mosaic artisans doing the installation and that he was trained in Italy to cover up the real fact that he is a liar/con performing inferior tile work. He tried to get me to tile my entire pool, thank god I did not!

I am the homeowner who Scott Call refers to in California, He is an absolute LIAR!!! Do NOT use him, this is not what happened. I have the string of emails that he himself admitted the tile was bad, I have photos of the tile and his emails if you would like them. It had NOTHING to do with the chemicals as he tried to originally blame, but after months of the pool getting worse, he finally admitted it was bad tile, and how I was the only one who had problems and he would take care of it. His lies are exhausting, he told us he ordered the tile and he was waiting for the tile, he even went so far as to give us false shipping numbers,(only to find out later it was never ordered) which dragged this on for mnths and giving him time to apparently leave California and move his operation to Texas and Arizona. Trust me there are numerous complaints against him in CA.

I confronted him with the actual documentation from the manufacturer that the tile he had installed (Dream Crystal) was NOT suitable for under water use or outdoor use. This was on the actual manufacturer website!!!!! He will lie, then disappear. He is correct, he was subbed out from my pool contractor who was also an innocent victim in this. Although I did threaten to sue, I did NOT sue the pool company. Scott Call at Bahia Glass (Aqua Azul) he uses differnet names so be careful, he is the one I tried to sue, but his insurance company told me his insurance had lapsed and he was not renewed, and then the other company we found out he used said that the job had already been completed over 50% so I was screwed since he left me to re-tile the pool myslef. That is the ONLY reason Scott Call, Aqua Azul, Bahia Glass was not sued, because his own insurance company would not claim any responsibility. The pool contractor has worked out a re-payment plan with me for the work that was re-done, becasue they felt badly that their own sub screwed everyone. I did not have to sue or settle the claim, and hold him harmless, he again lied to you all.

Be careful of this guy, he is endearing and a great liar, so BEWARE and feel free to contact me if you need any back up information on him. I have all the emails for nearly 1 year of his lies and would love to bring him to justice. He will say I am a discruntled customer, and yes I am, because he left me with over 30k of a new pool that I had to re-do because of his negligence. DOnt listen to his lies, it had NOTHING to do with chemiclas which he originally tried to claim, yet after he realized I was not going away, he admitted it was the tile and it was being delivered and on the way. Please contact me for verification, I live in palos verdes ca. my email address is [email protected] I will back every word of what I say with proof!!! If I can save even 1 person from using him I will.

There is an expert in the swimming pool industry, Paolo Benedetti, who has written a lot of articles about glass tile mosaics. He has covered installation practices and cheap, inferior glass tiles from Asia. I found him when I was doing my search for contractors. Lots of interesting information - just earch for "glass tile" on his blogs at:
www.watershapes.blogspot.com www.expertwitnessswimmingpools.blogspot.com

Paolo quoted me $85 PER SQUARE FOOT for the installation and setting materials. The cost of the glass tiles were extra.

AND, he would only allow me to select from a list of about 6 brands of glass tile. Most, as it turns out are made in China. Even many of the well known brands and designers. They are fine for inside a kitchen, but not outdoors in the sun or a pool.

I decided against tiling the pool, since doing it right cost so much. Other bids for installation that I got ranged from $65 to $75 per square foot.

Too bad everyone was so gullible. You all got the quality that you paid for, that's for sure. I hope that in addition to suing them, that you are also pursuing a complaint with the Contractor's Board.

Maybe the guy who writes that blog can be of assistance in your lawsuits or repairs.

And as a matter of record he has enforceable court judgments against him, for at least 50 k USD (to me !) and owes the revenue a fortune. Be very careful.
