I was out last night at 11 pm and it was impossible to see the color skin of the other drivers except for when stopped next to a car with no tinted windows. Knowing only the information from this site it sounds like a set up. The police are trained professionals, SOMETHING other than what is being discussed on this site happened for the officers to proceed with the steps that were taken. The "innocent victim" has admittedly worked closely with law enforcement throughout his career so he knows what actions or words would spur certain suspicions or actions from them. Hmmm.. sounds like this scam is intended to supplement his retirement income. I don't buy the BUI for even a second and frankly I'm sick of the cop out race card that always seems to be made the focus of crap like this when the true facts of the incident should be the focus. Just the facts..without the dramaitized excuses.

remember many 'drugs' do NOT show up on a breathalyzer test...beer, wine, hard liquor gets into the blood stream and winds up in the lungs where air is mixed with blood and recirculated through out the body...the Breathalyzer samples the alcohol content in the blood and registers as a percentage of alcohol to blood.

Heroin, meth and crack do NOT show up on a typical Breathalyzer Machine...thus a -0- result will occur even if the driver is severely impaired...the Police were correct in what they did...and we all should appreciate their efforts...say 'Thank You' to the next Policemen or Policewoman you meet...they have 'earned' it!

lets get real...'money hungry cops ?'...are you kidding...work weekends, every holiday, nite shifts, bad weather, people that want to spit on you or kill you, divided public support, etc...what kind of money are we talking about and would YOU do it for the same pay check...missing birthday parties with your kids, missing PTA meetings, church services (if you go to church), working every Christmas, Thanksgiving, Super-Bowl Day, Anniversaries, High School/College graduations etc...yeah, sure...they are all over-paid (not)!

I did it for many years and the sacrifice was worth it every time a put a bad person away for child molestation, robbery, murder, rape...and that was many years ago and still there were those that complained that there were 'money hunger cops'...(just can't fix stupid)

I did it also 29 years as a mater of fact . Some of your statements are correct some BS. What happened couldn't get someone to trade with you for a graduation? Must have been an outsider. Do these cops have quotas imposed on them by the city? ElMirage has the phoney photo radar that singles out out of state cars and others. I have seen a lot of crooked cops in my day. Money hungry. Some got away with it some didn't and got caught.

You sound like one that got caught...sorry bud but I have never known a dishonest cop...I have known some that were not cut out to be in law enforcement because of temperament or moral turpitude...but dishonest,no...however I have seen a number of police officers get chased out of NYPD in the early 70's because of the Knapp Commission and wound up in Arizona...they didn't last long with any department that I knew of because most of them were crooked...also many of the eastern cities are know for their corruption, mostly in the middle and upper ranks.
Perhaps you worked as a jailer or some desk position but the rank-and-file uniform officers in Arizona are honest and very loyal to their communities that they serve.
Too bad you have such an low opinion of 'fellow officers' that you served with...but you sure do not impress me with your 29 years of service...sounds like you were cynical and that they couldn't get rid of because of some Police Union...typical back east b/s.

oh, btw 'Taxpayer for years'...what kind of radar only picks up out of state license plates ?...I had a Doppler radar unit assigned to me that only picked up the fastest of two vehicles if they were close in size with each other or would pick up the largest of two vehicles even if the largest was going slow...but that was over 40 years ago...I know radar has improved since then with the new laser focus designs...but to have a radar unit that can discriminate between what state a vehicle is registered in is truly amazing...pray tell, who is the mfg of such an intelligent instrument ?..'Custom Signal' or perhaps 'Speed-Gun'...there are many more I realize but I was only certified on two...thanks

Evidently you haven't heard about all the cops in the Chicago suburbs that got caught. They are in Federal Prision where they belong and have lost their pensions. Radar? Photo radar is easy to munipilate the findings. Just take a bunch of photos and sort through for the out of state plate then come up with a number like 11 over. Arizona and Florida are good for that. ElMirage holda the trophy for it.

like I said...the worse trained and supervised police officers are mostly found in the eastern cities...yes, I heard of the corruption in the Chicago P.D...about 40 years ago a Chicago Police Captain was the ring leader in a 'chop shop' that stole hundreds of cars...dissembled them and sold the parts...so nothing is new in Chicago...run by thugs for thugs who vote thugs to elected positions in government.

I do agree with you on Photo Radar...prior to the early 80's anyone who received a moving violation citation in Arizona was actually charged with a 'criminal crime'(misdemeanor) and had all the 'rights' that any alleged wring doer had available to them...the 'right' to subpoena witness, cross examine and in vehicular violations to subpoena 'calibration and maintenance records of radar equipment...that was all changed when the legislature de-criminalized most of Title 28 Motor Vehicle Laws (ARS) and made them 'Administrative Actions' which eliminated the defendants 'right' to proceed with a strong defense...thus that opened the door for abuse which in my opinion 'Photo Radar' is a perfect example...now the defendant has 'very limited to 'no rights'...also the ability to subpoena valuable defense information is non-existent...all the 'reasons' that the political powers that be to defend the use of 'Photo Radar' is just smoke'n mirrors and total bullshit.

btw you seem to have a stiff one for the El Mirage P.D....When I first came out of the academy many years ago I was assigned to U.S.60...(at that time most of all traffic from the Riverside/L.A. area cane east via U.S.60 through Wickenburg to Phoenix)...I-10 had not been completed until many years later from Tonopah...Traffic was extremely heavy and it was not divided highway yet for several more years...the cities and towns that U.S.60 went through, with the exception of Wickenburg, Glendale and Phoenix had the State provide traffic enforcement and the relieved the Town Marshal and his deputies and City Police Depts. of actual law enforcement duties on U.S.60...I can assure you that at that time the El Mirage Police Dept. was only on Grand Ave to cross it to go from one side of their town to the other side...they didn't like the heavy traffic and messy accidents...I know since I worked that detail for several years before being transferred to northern Arizona.
I do not know what your beef is with El Mirage but if you feel you have been wronged in some was by the El Mirage P.D...collect your evidence, transcript witness testimonies, make duplicate copies of any and all physical evidence i.e. pictures etc...and submit that to the county attorney or AG Office for follow-up investigation...
...also if you don't have the time or inclination to do the aforementioned primary work...then just shut up and quit your bitch'n...nobody ever told you that your life is 'special' and you wouldn't have some difficulties...grow up.

Possibly you misunderstood. The beef is with their system. If you have read the Daily News Sun there have been several people given citations there that were from out of state. When you are 1200 to 1800 miles away they know you won't fight it. I know the trap is there, drive 5 under through the area and still got hit with one. First citation since I started driving in 1961. Car registered out of state.

Dude, this goes into the suburbs big time. Not just the Windy city. Makes me want to puke.
