Anyone have any Stories of the Escambia County Sheriff's abuse of power, or harassment, or physical abuse brought on for no logical reason? Please reply, I'm interested in seeing if anyone else has had or knows about this type of thing happening as it has happened to me.

Thx

I would like someone in the Escambia County jail, to get a personal message to one Tony Eugene Philips, an inmate, who (I hope) is suffering in your jail, for murdering my sister Lisa Salisbury app. 2 years ago. I hope visions of her are haunting him in his nightmares. She may not have been the picture of a perfect citizen, but she was a human, a mother, daughter, sister and friend to us. She is sadly missed and I wanted him to know that he will have to answer to someone higher than any of us. Susan Salisbury

I recently recieved a traffic ticket from an ECS deputy. I did nothing to warrant the ticket, nor the abuse from the deputy. Several other motorists witnessed the entire incedent and agreed I was innocent.
After I pulled over, the deputy ran over to me, cursing, and yelling. He repeatedly called me a "F****** Moron", and other insults. He grapped me by my clothing, dragged me to his car, handcuffed me, and threatened me. I did nothing, and said nothing. He continued the verbal abuse, and then wrote a ticket for $85.00. He never even told me what the ticket was for.

What do you expect.... This is the brain washed, somnolent skied new south capitol of the world AND epitome of what America (at least middle america) could and may well become as long as people surrender thier small town wit and pride to the idea of "authority" so completly that they loose everything. Now prentending that's what they always stood for. What are conservatives "CONSVERIVING?"
A increasingly radical form of goverment that moves siliently wihout quastion?

on August 27/28, 2007 a report of sexual abuse of a resident at a local nursing home was reported. It was "investigated by the ECSO". For some reason there were more important things to put in the paper to hide this dastardly act.

I was stopped at Mobile Highway coming out of Walmart parking lot when a huge Dodge truck nudged the rear of my toyota and pushed me out onto Mobile Highway when the light was still red. I had my brakes locked. I skidded out, his doing $600 damage to the rear of my Corolla, and the light changed while I was fully onto the highway. Revving his engine, the truck backed up and raced away to the right. The Deputy saw what happened from across the highway, and came after me instead. As it turned out, he was in a hurry to get off shift, and fast wrote me a ticket, then raced away himself.

My friend, a Navy Captain, saw what happened and tried to prevent the ticket, and the deputy ignored him. He was going off shift and only had time to write me a ticket, not chase down the truck.
A new Sheriff needs to be voted in, and I suggest David Morgan. I don't know David, but he's the only one who wants to try to heal the damage the current Sheriff is doing to restore faith in the Sheriff's department. It's so easy to apply standard police work. It's work unrewarded to goof it up in red neck braggadosio.
They should do what they do in New Zealand. Heads of police are always women. Best community statistics in the world.

I'd like to have just a minute of your time for some advice, or perhaps some insight.
I've recently read articles about the death of the inmate that was suffering from a lung condition and the resistant staph infection.
I have a loved one currently incarcerated in escambia county jail, and have been told that there is an outbreak of 'staph' infections in there, and that they are not 'separating' these infected individuals from general population. How can this be allowed ?? This apparently is a highly infectious/contageous 'drug-resistant' infection. Why would they risk the other inmates coming in contact with such individuals ?? This is in addition to the being 'over-booked', and over crowded... lets add a contageous disease to the mix, wonderful.
One particular inmate is squeezing the oozing puss from his infections into the general toilet.
This is just gross, and risky to all other's in the 'dorm'. There's like 60-70 guys all in one
room, mixed with the carrier's of this highly infections/contageous disease.
Can't they be inspected,'beyond' the first floor ?? I've heard lots of things that are unsettling about how this jail is run, and how the inmates are treated. They've become such a 'money' making facility, they seem to forget they are responsible for doing the right thing, not the most profitable thing.
They are talked to and treated like dogs by the staff/deputies. There in no means trying to rehabilitate ANY of them by mistreating them and insulting them. And while I'm at it, let me say, Shackleford handing out the max sentence to EVERYone...sure is putting some cash in the counties pockets... hmmm
Power is a dangerous thing in the hands of those who are incompasionate and bitter. The jails are overcrowded BECAUSE of Shackleford, and of course THE MONEY they're making!!
Please let me know of the steps to take to voice these concerns to the correct person or agency without causing my 'loved-one' to be punished or treated even more unfairly in retaliation. Something needs to be done to make things right, not just make the county more money.

I have two vietnamese children we have raised for eight years. Their father is a shrimper in Bayou La Batre and was recently charged with a crime and came to stay one night with his daughter and post bond the next morning. Her father went outside to smoke a cigarete. While outside several unmarked cars pulled up and arrested him. After he was arrested and in the car several officers went to the house opened the front door without knocking, illegally entered the home, did anillegal search of her, her husband and two adult friends who were visiting while her then two year old daughter was screaming trying to get to her mother but was not allowed. She has been totally tramatized by this. Their home was then searched illegally without a warrant. The officers then left with no explanation. Get everyone together and we can do a class action law suit. I pastor a church in town. We can use it to call as many together as we can locate. You can email me at [email protected]

COntact me Angela. We all need to put together a class action lawsuit and organize our community to stand againstthem. They violated my family with an illegal entry and search of my daughter, her family and friends. The sheriffs never knocked or identified themselves.

How can a CO of the Escambia County Jail, have three charges of domestic violence and still work for the Sheriffs Office? How can this man's son have a two page wrap sheet and walk away from a third degree felony hit and run with a suspended license. How can this mans son threaten to kill me and my family repeatedly, and nothing happens? How can this man brag to people that the judicial system in Escambia County is in his pocket? When this mans son was charged with te hit and run he had a judge listed on the public records. When he goes to trial he has the same judge that he has had for every offence he has been charged with, and has walked away from all of them.

I am interested in any of these stories as well. Also anyone have any information with regard to the taser activity and the death of the one woman. And even further, I am interested in information about missing persons whose cars have been abandoned and they have been found dead later or missing, as well recent rapes and attempted rapes under investigation.

You guys are great! Everyone is always filing a lawsuit, but you know how many actually get filed each year? 1...maybe 2...want to know why? Because when you clowns go and talk to an attorney and tell them this same bs you are saying on here, they will tell you you don't have a case because the sheriffs office did nothing wrong...an attorney is not going to take a case that he knows he will not win...keep your bs'ing going you morons...its quite funny...

As far as the staph infection, you can get it anywhere. I have the infection and it is carried by alot of people that don't even know that they have it. Just make sure you keep your body washed and any sores need bacitracin and to be covered. You can probably get the staph infection just about anywhere there are people.

All of this abuse for traffic citations? Pull the tape, all of that stuff is recorded. So file some charges instead of whining on the internet.

I have an issue with Escambia County Sheriff's Department. Approximatly 6 yrs ago my sister came up missing and sherriff's department did not act fast enough on the case and we still have no resolution. Tonight I got word that a friend's daughter had ran away from home and is suspected to be in the accompany of a sexual predator. I made a call to WEAR 3 to get this aired on the news, as it has been 48 hours and it has still not been aired to the public. WEAR 3 told me that the sheriff's department has to release the information and then it could be aired. I called the sheriff's department and asked if we could get the information released and they said that everyone in the missing person's department was gone and would not be back until Tuesday. This is after they made the family wait 48 hours before they could file a report.
The longer we have to wait the more likely we will never find her. I have a problem with this as acting upon the situation fast may save her life. Let's hope that while the Missing Persons department is enjoying there holiday this little girl is safe and out of harms way.
