Has anyone received from their home owners insurance co, a paper saying they will be re-inspected for a wind mitagation report. I have and the more I ask questions about this, the more differant answers I get.

Home inspections are a joke! The inspection report changes depending on if the seller or the buyer is paying for it. Before an "inspector" does anything, ask him if he has "Errors and omissions" insurance coverage. If not, anything they "overlook",YOU pay for repairs.

I also had one from fema quit awhile ago, but from what I am gathering they are just singleing out certain people for this. I think it is time I look for another insurance policy, I will see I am thinking they are doing this to find fault and raise my rate, we will see, if so I will drop them like a hot potato. I was ripped off by the last company (nationwide) who after getting my roof replaced after Ivan, they tripled my rate and after they recouped their money and then some. Canceled my policy.

Just be careful and check on availability before you flame your insurance company. Depending on what zone you live in and the time of year, it can be hard to find an underwriter. I had this happen when I first bought my place in 2010. I got the mitigation and all was good, Then in 2011, they cancelled me without an explaination and I only found one company besides Citizens that would underwrite it. I couldn't get an explanation of why this happened-just their choice. Rick Scott has tilted the market advantage to the big insurance companies and his allowance for insurance companies to raise rates up to 15% without oversight or approval. His justification for the insurance changes are increase competition which he thinks will drive costs for consumers down in the long run-we'll see

ThomasA, any moronic comments on this subject?

Do not think it will drive down cost from my experience everything is being price fixed. You are so right about Rick Scott, he is all about insurance co. Florida needs to think twice about electing someone who was already busted for fraud.

Yea, the fact that he squirmed out of any criminal involvement in that was amazing-almost as amazing as the fact that he got elected. He put all of his assets in his wife's name the day before he took office. There can't be a conflict of interest when he tranfers his Solantic medical stock into his wife's name and then pushes for legislation that would benefit his company-what a tool.

But we shouldn't worry about his insurance shenanigans-he's got our best interests in mind, right?

Yeah he ended up paying a fine that was a fraction of what he stole. I wonder what would have happened if one of us got caught doing that? That should have been a big red light when he ran for gov. but I guess a lot of people are color blind.
