As a medical diagnosis, pedophilia (or paedophilia) is defined as a psychiatric disorder in adults or late adolescents (persons age 16 or older) typically characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children (generally age 13 years or younger, though onset of puberty may vary). Having said that, I do not defend his actions nor does he I have not once done so. I do defend him and will continue to do so especially from the lies and assumptions. Again, yes he does assume responsibility.
Ahhh....you like Wiki? This came from the same article that you quoted:

"In law enforcement, the term "pedophile" is generally used to describe those accused or convicted of child sexual abuse under sociolegal definitions of child (including both prepubescent children and adolescents younger than the local age of consent);[17] however, not all child sexual offenders are pedophiles and not all pedophiles engage in sexual abuse of children.[18][117][118] Law enforcement and legal professionals have begun to use the term predatory pedophile,[119] a phrase coined by children's attorney Andrew Vachss, to refer specifically to pedophiles who engage in sexual activity with minors.[120] The term emphasizes that child sexual abuse consists of conduct chosen by the perpetrator.[121

So let me rephrase it...Karl is a "predatory pedophile". That is the term that the "Po Po" use to describe Karl. He "chose" to attempt predatory sexual contact with what he thought was a 16 year old girl. If he accepts responsibility as you state, I expect to see a guilty plea show up on county record soon or when the trial starts....right? If so, I will apologize. If not, he is still a worm

I must tell you that I just googled "age of consent" and was shocked at the information that I discovered. I found a chart for age of consent around the world and was amazed that most countries around the world have much less stringent laws concerning that age at which it is legal to consent to sex. In some countries, it was 12. Most were 15 to 16. I guess Karl picked the wrong country to partake of young flesh. He should have flown to Iceland where it is 14.

The "po po" or you can also describe an apple as being square and rough like sand paper but that does not mean it is.

Obviously there are things I am holding back from divulging. with the knowledge of those things you might have an altered view or opinion, and again you might not. However, As for an apology in any circumstance, it is not needed. I have appreciated your comments and opinions. The mannor in which you've expressed them was tastefull and tactful.

i dont know this Karl guy one bit whatsoever, but the truth is that they conducted this operation in such a wrongful manner its disgusting. One of my friends was caught in the same situation, and what was described before was the truth. I read the transcript of the conversations. There was never any contact with a minor....an ad was put in an adult site....you respond to that ad, then all of a sudden they introduce a minor and ask you what you want to do to the minor using trickery. This is illegal and its happening way too often. Although this Karl guy might have had some issues, dont judge a book by its covers. What they reported to the media was incorrect, but it is what they had to report to make themselves look legit. If you dont believe me, then check out this link http://floridascandal.blogspot.com/

If I was on an adult site and someone asked me what I wanted to do to a minor, I would cease contact. Would you get real? When are people going to held accountable for their actions again? So they bait a perv and it's "tricking"? Your kidding. right? The purpose of this "trickery" as you call it creating a deterrant to these perverted monsters who prey on children. It just scratches the surface but if it protects one child. I'm all for it-lock em up!!!

so you are saying that implanting in ones mind the idea of that such an act is OK? even to go so far as saying that they had done this before and repeatedly asking what do you want to do to a minor and asking for specific details? that is pushing the envelope in my opinion, but all we have are opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs. It is a matter of the courts at this time, but just as there are dirty cops, there are dirty cop operations as well and one would be naive to think otherwise!

I can simply state what I would do if I was involved in a situation such as this. Morality has decayed to the point in which immoral deeds are excused away by blaming "corrupt" law enforcement instead of holding people accountable for their actions. No one could plant. entice, suggest or otherwise coerce me in any way to participate in these types of conversation. If a small number of people who otherwise would never have actually performed these deeds get caught in the crossfire of protecting children, I am sorry and it is sad. But the overall intent of these stings is to catch and deter actual and potential pedophiles. There is too much at stake to not take action.

excellent response, its just unfortunate that some of these arrested that are probably innocent didnt have your mindset. I just wish more of the community were privy to some of the chat logs such as the one i read. I was rather taken back and shocked. The police in these operations should be able to determine by ones responses whether or not a potential predator fits the profile of a pedophile. Of course, every chat is different, but in my friends chat, it was hard to believe at what lengths law enforcement went thru to find them an arrest. Its unfortunate, but it has and is happening. The Dept. Of Justice has a pamphlet out regarding sting operations. From what i read, there are not even any hard numbers showing that these operations actually deter, and in some operations even provoke such criminal behavior. I think it will be interesting to study the numbers from all these operations. Ive done some homework myself and have had uncovered some abnomalies that even offer a motive for police using such illegal tactics. Sounds crazy, its not, its a numbers game the way i look at it. But glad there are others that at least have an open mind. It just seems that these accused are already guilty in the court of public opinion because of how the police reported such a broad generalization of all cases to the local communities, and then silence. Seems odd to me.

Oh yes, police are human and are subject ot the same predudices, mistakes, moral lapses, and other human weaknesses that we all are. I have experienced inocorrect application of and interpretation of the law personally. I think the intent of their actions were good, but nothing is perfect, including our judicial system. I'm sorry that your friend slipped through the cracks but hopefully the checks and balances of our system will prove the truth and if appropriate, exconerate him. The truth is what matters.

I just love all your judgemental attitudes - all you lily white, perfect human beings out there. I bet not one of you ever made a poor choice in judgement in all your lives!! You don't know K. you don't know his history, you dont know the circumstances, in other words, you really don't know any of the truth! He is NOT a predator. And legally, it's like the cops set up a deer stand, put corn out, the deer came to check it out, and then the hunter shot the deer and blamed the deer for getting shot! You people don't know what the hell you are talking about! Look in the mirror - or are you so perfect and innocent?

I know I'm not perfect. But that is a little more than lapse in judgement. Talking online and role playing is one thing, but when he showed up at the door to do whatever he planned on doing with a 12 year old. That's when he crossed the line.

We as human beings have thoughts and what turns us on sexually, and act upon those thoughts to get turned on. But we as human beings know right from wrong. Every living human adult know it is wrong to do anything sexual with what the law considers a child. To lose that control of thought and act on it means you lose your right to your freedom and take whatever punishment the courts decides for your crime. I personally think that any child preditor male or female should have something medically done to their bodies to where they will never get horney again and maybe that will stop them from sexually molesting under age children. I do not have any knowlege of this person so I will not say anything negative towards him, I am saying this about child molesters in general.

heres an article i wrote after doing tons of research on the subject.....this is the real TRUTH!

Florida is now the Pedophile Capital of the US. Recent numbers show that there has been a 74% increase in the number of sex offenders as to only 23% for the rest of the nation over the past 5 years. Why is that? Is this a title that Floridians should be proud of? And how come this hasnt raised any eyebrows? The problem is that Florida is creating sex offenders not catching them by performing these random stings into the general population about every month and we are the only state doing such. Florida should not be in the business of testing the will of law-abiding citizens with elaborate (if improbable) fantasies involving any minor. See People v. Aguirre, No. G045009 (Cal. 4th DCA, April 5, 2012, and Lusby v. State, 507 So.2d 611 (1987). Although there are pedophiles out there, we are being led to believe that there is a much larger problem than there really is. Then how come we are the only state that has such a problem? This is an epidemic that has spiraled out of control. Why are counties that are netting the most arrests receiving awards as if it were some kind of game? The true sex predators, such as the Ronald Browns, are not lurking in the areas they say they are catching them. Congratulations Floridians on your new title!

This is America and EVERYBODY has rights especially concerning freedom of speech. Yes this even includes men that can be talked into having consensual sex with a minor. These undercover “cops” are posing as minors interested in sex with adult men. Therefore, to converse with them about sex is not against the law and “law enforcement” are using the first amendment against these men to encourage the commission of crimes which IS ENTRAPMENT because it is considered inducement AND virtue testing. There are court cases that prove these operations are entrapment. They are performed on ADULT web sites where there is plenty of porn, role-playing, sexual conversations, etc. that the cops are using to help induce the men by either the implied consent or by just blatantly asking for sex. Furthermore, the stings performed in the adult section of Craigslist DO NOT advertise sex with a minor but sex with an adult. Consequently, under these circumstances it would be easy to entrap a law-abiding citizen and encourage them to “break the law” and especially would implant the idea in the first place.

Let’s also not forget that we do not know the facts for every case and “law enforcement” have put everyone in the same category as “child predators” which is not true because the way the stings are performed the undercover officers are the predators. I have seen cases where men actually changed their mind and refused to have sex with “the minor” who wanted it but showed up to the undercover location anyway because they were cussed at, verbally abused, and bribed with money just to meet. All of these tactics are textbook entrapment and the public is being lied to. Not to mention the fact that our criminal justice system operates under Blackstone’s Formulation.(“It is better that ten guilty escape than one innocent suffer.) THERE ARE INNOCENT MEN BEING ARRESTED and because the men plea out says NOTHING about their guilt or innocence! The only thing that a plea agreement does is avoid an unfair trial because of the prejudice created by the lies spread by the media and law enforcement. People do not want to hear the truth that law enforcement are creating sex offenders by posing as SLUTS on adult websites just to receive more federal funding. Furthermore, it is unconstitutional to create crimes merely to prosecute people for them as well as targeting someone based on their sex. It is unavoidable to entrap innocent men in these operations and they need to be stopped. See People v. Grizzle,(Colo. Ct.App. 2006) 140 P.3d 224, 227, People v. Aguirre, No. GO45009 (Cal. 4th DCA, April 5, 2012), and other cases at http://floridascandal.blogspot.com .

Anarchy is better than believing you have certain rights when you really don’t. i.e. Everyone has freedom of speech as long as we all agree with what they say.
