Uninformed Hannity Tries To Provoke Culture War Over NYC Subway Atheist Ads

During his Fox News show on Tuesday night, right-wing pundit Sean Hannity attacked a new ad campaign soon to be appearing in New York City subway stations that raises awareness about atheism. The ad, sponsored by The Big Apple Coalition of Reason, reads:“A million New Yorkers are good without God. Are you?”

“These ads inform New Yorkers that a million or more of their neighbors are good without God,” said Michael De Dora Jr., the executive director for the New York branch of the Center for Inquiry.“That is, a million of us have found or created natural morality, and lead good, productive, and meaningful lives without appeal to religious dogma or God.”

Sensing an opportunity to exploit the ads for political benefit, Hannity told his audience that a Christian group could never get away with airing ads like that:
"Can you imagine the outrage if a Christian group put pro-God ads in the New York City subways? What outrage."
But as Subway Sights — a blog about the NYC subway system — explains,“The problem with this thinking is that Christians have been putting up pro-Christianity ads in the subway for years and nobody cares.” The blogger continues,“There are ads for all kinds of competing churches, each offering their own flavor of Christianity and their own path to salvation.”

Subway Sights concludes,“Of course, Sean Hannity doesn’t factor this into his argument because he doesn’t ride the subway and has no idea what he’s talking about.”

Indeed, Hannity doesn’t seem to ride the subway. He has said,“I travel on private planes, I have an SUV that I’m proud of.” But his lack of knowledge never stops him from opining on things he knows little about.

Anyone with any sense knows Hannity is an idiot, a highly paid idiot, but an idiot, nonetheless. And to all the people that don't know that, consider yourselves his fellow idiots. It's all about ratings and advertising money, geesh. Again, the almighty dollar will prevail, not common sense.

Granted, what Hannity said was incorrect. You DO see ads for churches all over the place.(I personally can't comment about subways, because I've never had "opportunity" to ride one.) Athiests have just as much right to recruit as anyone else. Mr. Hannity was definitey wrong and should correct himself, if he hasn't. I do, however, kind of understand the point that he wanted to make. It seems like, more and more, those who are Christian are getting pushed away from society for what they believe, as those who are not Christians are heralded for believing otherwise. Personally, I have no desire to put anyone down for their religious beliefs. I'm confident in my beliefs and that is what matters to me. It just seems that a lot of people who cry out for tolerance these days are just as intolerant of those who don't agree with them.
I also think "idiot" is a harsh word to use.
I'm also surprised (not really) that Olive Oiil and the others who make such a point of looking down on people who "name call" and don't agree with them aren't on here telling you how you must not have anything useful to say if you're going to call people names to get a point across.

This is the exact response that I knew I would get...you rush to point out how someone's viewpoint can't be valid or they must be small-minded or uneducated if the name calling is against someone you like. If the name caller agrees with you, however, you tend to agree with it. Hypocritical AND closed-minded.

You are a piece of work, I hope you know that. My previous posts on many threads in regard to the name calling issue are that when you cannot cite reference to your argument, you name call. If you start a thread that calls someone something that is the a discussion. I really wonder sometimes what your personal life is like that you are so blatantly rude and condescending. Post a thread, title any nasty word you can think of to call me and its your right to do, I guess. But to call names out to other posters in response to their argument is EXTREMELY inappropriate. That is what I have said all along, my opinion doesn't change from thread to thread.

This is ridiculous. You just twist things so that they fit in a way that you like. It's just as rude to call someone a name in one context as it is to call them a name in another context. Saying that Hannity is an idiot is just as bad as me calling you a name. It's possibly even worse, because the guy can't defend himself from it. I, personally, don't really care if anyone thinks he's an idiot, btw. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I was just curious if you would remain so staunchly against name-calling if it was against someone you didn't like. This answers that question, and you are absolutely a hypocrite.
If you want to see rude and condescending, try looking in a mirror.(FYI: You don't have to call someone names to be rude.)My home life is great, btw. Not that it's really any of your business...

Just because it's your opinion doesn't make it any less rude than anyone calling anyone else names. It's exactly as I've said before...you and oliveoiil are both hypocrites. It's only wrong if it is against someone or something you agree with.
(Personally, I don't care what you call Hannity or anyone else. Just saw the double standard here and it just doesn't make sense.)
