It was dark just an accident. A young man said he walked right out in front of him. He really did not mean to and really tried to miss him. State police working the case. God bless them. and his family.

Accident? Can you explain to me why Mr. Cox is in such bad shape? I understand that it doesn't take much to injure someone with a car but with the extent of his injuries, the driver had to be going at a considerable high rate of speed. There is a lot more to this story and we will just have to wait and see what happens. As of now, Mr. Cox is in really bad shape and needs all the prayers he can get.

False! You do not have to be going a "cinsiderable high rate of speed" to injure someone bad. Think about getting hit by a vehicle travellng 30-35 mph and weighs over 1,000 pounds. A persob can bash their head on the windshield, go underneath the vehicle, get tossed in the air, ran over, or even the impact itself can cause serious bodily injury. There is no reason to believe there is more to the story. There were witnesses and nobody mentioned anything about the driver that would lead authorities to think it was abything but an accident.

My question is since this hasn't been in the paper or news in any form where did you get your information of the witnesses statements?

Just because its not in the paper or news doesnt mean there were wasnt witnesses. If it had been a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and wreckless as the previous posts is leaning towards, THEN it would have been all over the news. It was a simple accident.

First Of All"SAM",,Know The Facts Before You Run Your Mouth,It don't Matter If He Did Or Not, What If That Was Your Dad, Brother Or Son????? And 2nd To "Suspicious" We Know What Happened But If This Was Some Well-Known Rich Person It Would Have Been All Over The News,,Justice Will Prevail Trust Me,,,I've Been To The Hospital And The Dr. Said Yes It Had To Be a High Rate Of Speed That Caused This Much Injuries, U a Dr.?,, This 17 Year Old Which We Know Who It Was Said He Was Traveling 7 Miles An Hour?.Ha ,, No Way,And Why Wasn't This Young Boy Taken For Drug Tests Or Alcohol Or Maybe He Was Even Texting?? Go To The Hospital And Take Just One Glimpse Of Donnie And Then Speak Your Opinion,He Has Over 52 Broken Bones,Bones Sticking Out Of Right Leg, All The Bones On His Right Side Was Broke, His Left Arm And Ankle Broke,All His Ribs Broke,Punctured Lung And Massive Head Injuries!!!!!!!!!! This Is What's Wrong With Lee County, People Have Nothing Better To Do Than Run Their Mouth About Something They Do Not Entirely Know What's Going On!!!!!!!!!!

Accident or not, there is no way that the car was going 7 miles an hour. No one is saying that the driver intended to hit Mr. Cox..that is not what I'm saying. I understand that a vehicle can do damage no matter how fast It's going but with the extent of Mr. Cox's injuries, that car was going faster. Apparently the ones on here saying otherwise are friends or family of the driver. Regardless of Mr. Cox's personal life or what kind of person he was, he shouldn't be lying in a hospital bed right this second, fighting for his life...period!
There will be more to this so just watch and see. The store nearby has cameras and there were several witnesses who have came forward. Oh yeah, can anyone explain to me why the girl in the car ran? That part makes no sense to me.
