its 1 year and it depends on what you ae looking for. both treat their employes like shit,or did when i was there, rip you off when they can. if your looking for better pay, insurance, and retirement go with the feds. its about the only thing better than the state. everything else is the same. i went back to the mines but now lost my job thank you obama.. jackass... good luck.

So you quit a secure job before you got your 1 year in at the State Prison. Why didn't you tough it out and then move on to more pay and go to the Federal Prison? How is Obama to blame for you going to the mines? This just don't make sense. I think you should put the blame on the one who made the bad judgement.

umm no i workd there for several years.i could make retirement faster if i went back underground. i just got tired of the political bull sh*t. and cap and trade is what cost me my job.but i blame ex rep boucher for that to. he voted for it. and obama pushed it. think im wrong. ask any miner who just lost their jobs. but oh well unemployment is just in time for hunting season.its my money i payed into it so im going to use it lol... and when i get tired of it ill go apply somewhere else. i can run most equipment. im too old now to try to go back to the feds and i wouldent if i wasnt. too much like being in the army again... lol... i still have alot of friends at the feds and several state joints. they are tougher than me putting up with all the bull. i just had to worry about methane, the ribs rolling and roof falls lol...

ill blame the people responsable. plain and simple. cap and trade had killed the coal industry and so has his high lord obama. boucher signed the cap and trade, look what happened to him. gone. hopefully it will happen to the rest of the ones who voted for it. so crawl back under your welfare check and snort a pill like a good little boy.:)

Fed has much better benefits...and no you don't have to have 2 yrs of State...actually it's all on who you know..who's dick your willing to suck and who's ass your willing to kiss to get a job there...chad cox kissed major ass to get that job..took the first warden out fishing in his pretty little boat..and he along with others lie and screw their so called friends over just to get to the top..once there it's all about who can I screw to make myself look better...word of advice..steer clear of that place..

You my friend are exactly right..minus the welfare and pill comment. I don't think everyone who comments are on welfare or doing pills. Either way it makes no difference to me. In case anyone missed it on the news this morning, they are now taxing everyone who uses coal or any fossil fuels. That means alot of people will no longer use coal and we all know what that means. Miners will start losing their jobs again because there will no demand for it. Now I know the subject isn't coal but I just wanted to point that out. As far as state and federal prisons go, my opinion is go federal all the way. I have several family members who work at the prison and they all have great benefits and are paid very well. I'm not sure what the requirements are but if you have a choice, choose federal. That's just my opinion so let's try to be polite and respect other people's views.

I think it is a ashame tater(Shawntee) goodman that you say that about Terry, she is a good person and you do not have any right talking look where you come from. Your mother has been around as much as you have and you are on welfare. The only way you will get on at the prisons is the family you have there.

If you are going to apply for a job then apply to both. I work at USP LEE and have been here for a few years. Good benefits and pay. . There is NO requirement yo go to state first.
