Al, This really is about a wonderful little girl. This site is for concerned parents and how they can share info on keeping the children safe. To write about Obama is wrong. If you really want to get your point across, please go to the sites like cnn. To keep going on about the president about the h1n1 to concerned parents is not only mean and out of touch of where you should really be speaking your mind.
If you really want to get your point across, please go where you can really debate and not on a site where a small town newspaper is allowing parents to talk about their concerns.

And the Bush Administration didn't give away billions upon billions of U.S. Dollars to failing American companies plus a dole of $800 to each and every American (and some not so American) taxpayer?

Oh yeah, I forgot. The Bush Administration dissappeared on January 20th and we're not to discuss that administration's affairs any more. Right?

Well I had hoped this could be a forum where vacavilel parents could post our fears and actions of how we were keeping our kids safe. While of course offering our condolences to the family & our community for losing such an innocent child. As a mother of a child that had H1N1 then got pneumonia I wanted to be as informed as possible on H1N1. It is in my opinion that there are numerous conflicting reports of info about this. Concerned about what to believe & what not to. I guess we have to follow our gut instincts and wait it out. BUT while staying on the subject matter I have to say I do NOT think that America was or is prepared for such pandemic conditions. This is WHY the Government keeps alot of info from WE the people. Here are some conflicting pieces:
H1N1 virus stays on surfaces 2 to 4 hours VS 17 to 18 days. The Vaccine will prevent it. VS it is a LIVE active shot (you are putting the virus into your body you will get sick)also this is a 2 part shot. so most likely you will get swine flu before the Government gets the vaccines to your area. You will not be tested for H1N1 if you go to your doctor with symptoms, the medical facilities are over loaded and hello yes you have it..hopefully you will survive it! PLEASE people if you are sick with fever and or cough..STAY HOME, wash your hands after each cough!! Lets stop spreading this! My son went back to school today after 3 long weeks of this flu. He is still coughing but was sent to school with hand santitizer to be used frequently!

To Concerned Vacaville Mom from another concerned VV mom: Please accept my best wishes for a speedy recovery for your child. Most who write in to our local paper are people of good will. I can only speak to our own experience and what we learned from our doctor. My daughter was examined and sent home 'with the flu' on Monday, coming down with symptoms the day before. No mention of testing her for Swine Flu and, frankly, it never occured to me. My son was fine until Wed when he too came down with immediate, severe flu symptoms. When I phoned the pediatrician again, she said 1) he most likely had what his sister had 2) the peditrician said that her office "was no longer routinely testing for H1N1 as they were overwhemed" 3)she wanted me NOT to bring him in as he could infect other sick patients in the office 4) if his fever spiked over 103 and could not be brought down with piggybacking Ibuprofen/Tyonal, call for an immediate appointment and he would be seen 5) she did not want to offer my son Tamiflu as they were holding it for only children who had an underlying/secondary condition (pneumonia) 6) that my son was not to return to school/crowds until his fever was 100 degrees UNmedicated or lower for at least 24 hours AND did not have a cough (as it is an airborn virus and can be easily spread to others in enclosed spaces via coughing/sneezing). It took seven days for my daughter and 5 days for my son to fulfill these directives and they just went back to school today. If this information is incorrect, then my pediatrician is giving my bad information. I treated the coughs with Pediacare very successfully if that is helpful to you. The pharmacyst at Raley's on Alamo (older man, glasses, not much hair on top) was very helpful in giving H1N1 information/comfort care advise should you want to consult a local medical person directly outside your doctor's office personnel. Three weeks is a long time to be sick. Good luck.

Grandma, You sound like a nice and lovely lady. Please Explain why your not upset that President Obama children, US Senate, Congress, Intern's, pages, and their staff can have the medicne, and vaccine now, and a little girl or others need to wait, and may even die ? Do You Think That This Is Fair ? or Right ? People need to know how and why this TRAGEDY HAPPEND, Obama had ten months to prepare and help protect children and america; yet he did not do enough, or prepare for this National Emergency ! Yes I feel sad for the family and friends of the child who died ! I lived only two blocks away from the Brown's Valley School, I know people, neighbors, friends from church, who are very concerned, scared, and mad because this was not handeled in the best way to protect America !
