Then join the police department and change it from the inside, or are you a coward. You would rather sit from the outside and bitch.

Most of the police officers in Vermilion County (and especially Danville) are completely worthless. They use their positions to keep their own families out of trouble, get back at people they don't like, and thats about it.
They ride around town treating people like sh*t. You call them and they don't show up for 45 minutes...then they refuse to investigate the matter!!
They don't do anything to prevent crime, and they don't investigate crimes that have already happened (in any kind of worthwhile way). So basically, unless you rob a bank in front of them, they are window dressing, nothing more and nothing less.
The best thing that could happen to Vermilion County is if EVERY Officer was fired, and the entire dept. was replaced from the top down.
Then maybe we'd have Officers that didn't point there guns at people for fun, or when somebody flirts with their wife, or some kid picks on their son at school. Maybe we'd have someone in jail for the armed robberies all over town. Maybe they could take drugs off the street and maybe...just maybe...they could build some goodwill in a community that hasn't trusted them for years.
I'd better be careful...if they trace my IP address I might get pulled over, yanked out of my car, beaten, and have a Glock pressed to my skull by one of the cowards that get paid not to "serve and protect", but to "harass and ticket".
Before you say "that's ridiculous", remember how many of our honorable "boys in blue" stood behind their trigger-happy buddy, saying he was innocent and shouldn't get in trouble, now we know that they're all liars.
I agree with you 100 percent! Cops in this town are the problem and the real reason why crime in this community is out of control! All smoke and mirrors!

I hope the Vermilion county sheriffs office is proud of the way they killed a child today! Does common sense even exist at all in the sheriffs office? I mean come-on chase a couple of twelve year old's that resulted in the death one a child and seriously injuring another child that might die, as well as an innocent family just so you can charge these kids with a stolen car! Common sense says this was the worst possible way to handle this situation. Someone must take action in this county and protect the citizens because as almost every resident of this county knows the police here can't as the corruption and stupidity is too deeply embedded! They make almost every single situation worse. They fail to have any oversight over there own department. The policy's they have in place are a result of the corruption that has plagued this community for many years.
Shame on you Vermilion County Police, your scum worse than every so-called criminal housed in the PSB. Too bad it was not one of your own or better yet one of your family members that was the victim of your own stupidity!

How about blaming the kids that stole the vehicle? No one died either. The cops were doing their job. Oh and these "children" may have stolen at least one other vehicle. I wish they had stolen and wrecked yours.

Where in the hell did you hear the cops were chasing these kids. They were not!! The accident was called in after they crashed. I suppose that now your going to blame them for not finding them and chasing them. Your an idiot.

corruptville is once again spewing his ignorance and bashing an agency that is not at all responsible.(maybe it was his life long goal to become a police officer and he was unable to pass the psychological exam)

these children were NOT being chased by the VCSD. this child was obviously going thru a tough time with his home life. i believe the News Gazette stated he was brought to a hospital for an evaluation and ran from the hospital. i dont think its fair to write him up as a delinquent, just think he was scared and confused and made some bad decisions by stealing not one but two cars to escape from his situation. i am sure by the time the realization of his actions set in he went into panic mode. i dont know of any 12 year old boy traveling at a higher rate of speed, in an unknown area, on a road that changed surfaces that wouldnt have had a similar crash. 12 year old boys are NOT experienced drivers, especially when they are scared of the consequences of their actions.

its a tragic situation.....but dont try to put that childs blood on the hands of the VCSD.

fyi....it all began in Hoopeston and ended in Westville, but yet no mention of those agencies in your bashing

I agree with you 100%!! I have a story to tell....
My problem pertains to arson's in my neighborhood for more than 25 years. How can an arsonist get by with such a heinous crime for this many years and not get prosecuted? Are they really that stupid? There not only stupid but corrupt as well when they all told us themselves they knew who the arsonist is even the State Fire Marshal admitted this to us. They are not prosecuting crime their condoning it! Falsifying police reports ect...
To add to this story, the ones responsible for these arson's has set fire to my property over 5 different times. Know what the law enforcement did? NOTHING!! Except ask the well-known arsonist and his conspires who started the fire. Based on their statements alone arrested the homeowner at his place of employment which cost him his job. Now, he cannot find a job because of background checks on his record. This issue was dragged through the court system for three years and dropped costing homeowner an excessive amount of financial loss and emotional stress. This all happened only 2 years after the homeowner was just recovering from cancer. Sense the case was dropped the homeowner took a case file to the States Attorney's office (Randy Brinegar) to show him evidence, motive and probable cause of the ones responsible for this felony crime. It took 2 months to even get an appointment for one. Then a few months later informed us, only through his office staff, that he seen enough to open a case and get an investigator on the case. It has been over 9 months now and nothing has been done!! Mr. Brinegar will not talk to us or return any of the MULTIPLE messages we left him in the last 9 months. He just leaves a message, again through his office staff, that "I will call you today". Has he? Not for 9 months!! We believe he is not doing anything because the police department, Fire Department and Fire Marshal's corrupt actions in this case. In order to protect them nothing is being done to protect innocent victims of such a vicious crime violating our civil rights. Furthermore, We than asked him for our case file back and he won't give it to us! This is unprofessional, lack of integrity, and absolutely and unethical principle the entire law enforcement and possibly tampering with evidence. Note...States Attorney Mr. Brinegar sure had the time to take interview with the commercial news announcing his second term for office though. Guess his personal financial gain is more important right than our community! Should we vote for him? I think NOT!!! Any suggestions on the next step to take let me know I'M NOT DONE YET!!!

I totally agree.
I have had my own personal experience with Pat Harthshorn unethical business practice and I'm NOT impressed. He is as corrupt as those who work under him. You need to start at the top of the command chain and work down to expire all of the dirty corrupt police enforcement in this town. When you condone arson that has happened for over 27 years in ones neighborhood and you know who the perpetrator is and refuse to prosecute that person but arrest the victim instead of protecting them it doesn't get any dirtier or more corrupt than that!
