About the high school players going to the Lobos rather than to NMSU, well, at least they're going to a New Mexico school.

Sound-Off Caller: "Espanola, Santa Fe and Albuquerque banned cell phone use while driving a vehicle. What is it about Las Cruces government that seems to think there is little risk to warrant such control?"

Perhaps they're holding out in the hopes that Las Cruces will be the one city where the citizens aren't so stupid as to warrant needing the law in the first place?

Let me get started on "our" high school students going off to college. For starters at least they are going to college, unlike alot of the other grduates. And second maybe if the schools here would treat ball players here with respect and give the team the proper things that they need we would have more and more kids staying here to play ball. I'm not saying go out and "buy" your playeers. I'm saying make the offers, keep in touch with them and also make sure the epuipment they are using is in great condition. GIVE OUR KIDS A REASON TO WANT TO STAY. Try to produce a winning team.

I have two pit bulls. My wife and I are terrified of them. Every day these two pit bulls try to lick us to death. Guess I'm going to have to put them down.

Just wait, one of these days they are going to like the taste and just when you least expect... KA CHOMP!

Exactly. They're licking you to see what people taste like. When they find the right sized prey, they'll chomp away.

They ARE that stupid, and it needs to be done here. If someone on a damn phone, talking or texting hits me, I will sue both parties and the phone company, just to make an example, while I sit at home for six months or a year watching TV on their dime, longer if I am injured.

To late. The drivers in LC are that stupid, and we need a cell phone ban while driving. I have already seen two accidents where cell phone use was a factor, and you will see drivers texting all of the time.

Why would young people want to choose a Christian life over rock and roll? It's so boring. I guess you can look forward to all the judging of people who are different and the prejudice remarks. But is that really enough?

The freak Mo Jackson had NOTHING to do with Rock in any way whatsoever. But he had a lot to do with molesting children... Seriously, let's get on with real music. Aerosmith, Scorpions, ZZ Top, Grand Funk, etc.

This is one of the very few places I accept govt interference, because it actually IS a safety issue, unlike driving at a reasonable speed. Get yourself a nice jammer for your vehicle. You can get one that will kill cell reception over an entire intersection area effectively, plus little units that are easy to take into the movie theater and other places with you.

Just a few days ago I was stopped at a red light (nope, I did not run it :>}). Anyway, there were two people in the car behind me; each had a cell phone at their ear. I wonder if they were talking to each other?

I saw one accident where a teenage girl talking on a cell phone rear ended a car making a left turn, and the responding officer had to finally take the phone away from the girl so that he could question her.

I just Googled "cell phone jammers", and found several portable units that will cover a 40' area. They are anywhere from $40.00 to several hundred dollars depending on the options. I will be ordering mine soon.

"Does the upstanding American Christian who was offended by the LGBT parade realize that as Christians we should know that Christ teaches us to love one another, not judge one another? By the way, I am straight."

It's important to realize that just becuase Christians do not accept homosexual behavior, doesn't mean we hate the people for their sin. We hate the sin.
And if you are indeed a Christian, then you need to know that by not approving of one's lifestyle doesn't mean we are judging the person, we are judging their sin. For example, I could totally hate the lifestyle of my daughter, but I still love her with all of my heart.
If we do not judge sin according to the word of God, then no morals would exist because everything would be considered "love".

So, to combat bad behavior you are advocating using a device that is ILLEGAL to own in the United States and carries a possible $11,000 fine if caught. Priceless.

Distracted driving of all forms is bad, but let's not justify bad behavior by using other bad (and illegal) bahavior.

"I sit on my front porch watching the beautiful fireworks from people shooting up their illegal fireworks in the city limits. But it looks so beautiful."

I would suggest you get used to the black market providing that which you enjoy; and sooner or later that which you need to survive.

!Viva Laissez Cruces!

Thanks to the illegal fireworks-shooters who behaved in a safe way. It WAS a good show.

I was in a Verizon store the other day when a guy came in with his pre-teen daughter. She was having trouble with her phone and she was upset that she wasn't able to text. The store employee looked at the phone and said it probably just needed a new battery. So he put a battery that belonged to the store in just to check it out. Well, as soon as the battery went in she was able to text and she began texting to friends. When the employee asked for the battery back the young girl refused and continued texting. Her father had to literally grab the phone out of her hands pulling up until she was on her tiptoes, all the while she continued to text. As her father returned the battery the look of depression on her face was scary.

The stretch of Avenida De Mesilla between Main Street and Valley Drive is a race track for some people. There is only one speed limit sign visible and it is ignored by most. Are we waiting for a serious accident? Something should be done to slow these moronic speeders down before there is an accident.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Capricorn

Self deception will be the main issue today. You may be judging your situation wrongly: don't hold back, say what you think diplomatically and without being hurtful. This should result in a positive mental outlook for you. Competitive sports activity will ease any stress or tension.
