Replying to LOL:
Thee Iowa Interstate Railroad didn't build a track by TPI in Newton, so their not serving them either. And TPI is laying off. So much for wind-turbines.
I'm looking for the comment from LOL that discusses this... am I missing it?

You, as a college student, trying to educate my husband, who makes a 6 digit number??
Do you mean 6-figures? It's ok, just scratch digit off and write figures next to it. No one will even know...

You won't find it, it's just in her head. I think she hears voices!

One would have a very difficult time finding a more supportive person of railroads than Stu Kuyper who was President of Rolscreen Company (now Pella Corporation) at the time of his death in 1980. I recall a Rock Island Railroad Engine with his name on it. Rolscreen Company used the railroad to ship lumber in and sawdust out of their operation for many decades and did all they could to keep the railroad alive.

My husband don't care for Pella. Cause Pella windows don't use rail service.
And we stopped at one of the restaurants there & no hostess came to greet & seat us, so we walk-out.
And if you can bake your own letters-dough (Des moines Register) why bother stopping there to eat.
I am going to Pella today to get some letters-dough... My college education didn't teach me how to make them myself.

My husband and I have fairly recently relocated to Omaha and are still getting to know the area. I just found out about Pella and Elkhorn, Iowa from a friend and from people's comments here just heard of Orange City and Amana. Do any of you people from small towns in Iowa know of any other fun places to go? Which of the towns are best for 2 year olds? Any German or Austrian towns around?

Has anyone been to Leavenworth, Washington? http://www.leavenworth.org/modules/pages/inde... I'm wondering if these towns are similar. Leavenworth is basically a bunch of shops with touristy things you can buy and some restaurants and what not. It is a bit "kitschig" (if you don't know what that is it's hard to translate, but cheesy, corny, chintzy, etc. are some synonyms). Fun to go there, but nothing educational or anything.

Reply to you do not make sense:
Do you really think you'll get a high paying job with a college degree in this economy??
Better wait in line like everyone else at Iowa Workforce Development.
Don't sit there & harrass me about not supporting Pella, when you'll probably be waiting tables in Pella for min. wage!!! Cause that's all there is left is tourism & min. wage jobs & they don't pay.
The reason college students can't find jobs is because of people like your husband who makes "6 digits", which should be translated to six figures. When corporate executives make that kind of money, companies have nothing left to pay educated young people coming out of college. Why in the world would a company pay someone like your husband a six figure salary when it seems he is an arrogant, selfish, buffoon, and married to someone like you, who can't read or write or proof read their blogs.

Oh, and by the way I see you have stopped answering people's questions. Why, you seemed like you wanted to continue to argue and prove yourself right even though the evidence was obvious?

Yes, I do believe there is 81 winery's in Iowa.
My husband, a West Amana native has known that thee Amana's had quite a few winery's at one time.
Ackermann's Winery is good, but too sweet of a wine for me.
Snus Winery in Madrid I like & is more up-scale according to my husband.

A guy named Carl from FL responded:
BECKY--do you have an opinion of your own or do you believe your husband is the end all, be all and the second coming of Jesus?

So, apparently we aren't the only ones who thinks she is crazy!!

A heartfelt Thank You to everyone who participated in the event.
After a year of work for a few, seeing the smiles and hearing cheers from thousands was wonderful!

Love Pella, love the people who put so much effort in to the festival. And, as far as cults....whaaa? Open your eyes, your ears, and experience. I suppose you are one who over-generalizes things because you're not open enough to experience for yourself. Enjoy life! We love you Pella....Dutch Reformed, Catholic, Muslim, Atheists, etc. You have pride in your community - wish that could be said for all small towns.

I think Pella is a wonderful place during Tulip Time! People come to have fun and get away from their towns. I work in the Bakery and get to see what peoples expressions are when they see all the DUTCH LETTERS :) They buy them to try them not to look at and wonder how they were made.. Becky...I think you have your own opinion and you should just keep your husbands industry out of here.. we don't need a railroad to make Pella a happening place...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but what's the point in complaining about something when the story was about tulip time. I live in pella and its got its positives and negatives like any other town.
