the school board knew the farmers would vote down a levy if they were asked to pay even one penny so they found a way to tax the year round lake home owners for most of this new 10 year learning levy. I'll make sure to wave while I'm speeding by town to spend my money elsewhere.

I guess the business owners don't want my money.
They have made it clear that the farmers are the only people who count. I can only hope that every business with a vote yeas sign goes bankrupt before years end.

If you read the current information on this levy you would have seen that seasonal property owners are not taxed. As far as farmers goes it is only their home, garage and one acre of land.

I was just informed that the levy for the school did not go through. I guese I wasn't surprised. Over the last few weeks I have listened to the people in the communittee and heard many "plus" an "minuses". One business owner stated that they would be out of business in 6 months if it didn't go through. Maybe if they would cater to everyone year round not just the "seasonal" they would get more of our business. How many of the teachers do not even live here? Do they spend there money here? What population of the students families own property? A large majority rent. What does that mean? The man that gets them housing will pay numerous times over! What about the senior citizens? No exclusion for the people who built this great community....I know that help is needed, however; there has to be an answer that will be more for the "area people" not favoring the "seasonal" or "transplanted". I am not being discriminatory, I am just putting in writing what is being said through-out the community.

i agree with the frazee person. are we supposed to let the children suffer who's families live here all year round and work really hard to make this agood comunity. who cares what the people who live here 3 months out of the year say. it is more important to make sure our kids get a good education so that they can go on to college and have their dreams become a reality. we need to do this for our future and the future we want our grand children to have.

How can anyone trust the school board after they lied to us about needing a new school a couple of years ago. Maybe they are lying to us again.

Consolidation can be a good thing. I've seen it done in areas and it worked, however; a lot of thought needs to go into it. Keeping an elementary in one town and a highschool in another gives both towns the "boost" they need. Class sizes are not going to grow-families are not as big as they once were.
