there has been talk in concord about having drivers over a certain age tested as a condition of license renewal.

Ahhh concord your looking at the wrong age group.

Careful examination of insurance claims, police records state collision records will clearly show that the drivers age group 16 to 21 years have more auto collisions resulting in property damage deaths and injury than does the older drivers over 70 years of age.

the reasons are many, new drivers in NH do not get the proper amount of professional behind the wheel on the road training.

secondly drive attitudes are not fully address in NH driver training programs. There needs to be attention paid to Defensive driver training teaching and building in defensive drivers ideas.

We should be making securing a drivers license more difficult.

we should also address new drivers or people who immigrate here from overseas.

the license requirements around the world are not uniform and the fact you have a license from some third world country doesn't mean your qualified or able to drive your new too big for you SUV on our high speed interstate highway system.

lets focus on the age group that has the most collisions, resulting in deaths, injuries and property damage which is the age group from 16 to 21. make the license requirements more strict to keep these people alive save heart breaks for those families .

I think that drivers education should be taught in schools as a regular class, for at least two years.
Think of how comprehensive drivers education could be if it was a two year daily course.
I'm sure it would be a very popular course, and you could bet attendance would be more regular if your drivers license depended on it. If you skip school or drop out, no license.
The current drivers ed system just isn't thorough enough. One day on parking, an hour on tailgating and cell phone use for a lifetime of driving? Its not enough.
Let them start taking drivers ed classes at 13 or 14. Lots of classroom time that would include extensive in depth concepts that every driver should know.
We're not just talking about people who can't park, we're talking about fatal errors. And the people dying are kids.
Why would anyone think that a five or six week course just two nights a week is sufficient?
It's not.
