It's sad to see that the government in Ossining is so miguided. Last night the Ossining Police Department decided to go after store owners who sell alcohol . This has become a new cash cow for the village. My establishment pays upwards of 43,000 dollars a year in property tax and generates sales tax for the village. It's sad to see myself and other business owners used by the government of Ossining to solve their money troubles. This misguided attempt, will undoubtly lead to more store owners leaving Ossining......Good thing burnt out and boarded up businesses and homes seems to be the norm here.

Wait a minute. The police went after store owners who sell alcohol to WHO? Was it to minors or maybe without asking for proof? Or without a license at all? There has to be more to it than just what you posted.

If schools are so great in Ossining why can't any of the kids who post here spell right or put together a decent sentence? Too many signs not in English, and clerks can't speak English. Place is known as Little Ecuador. Pay meters to park. Downtown area is filthy with garbage pails overflowing. Mayor doesn't go there unless there's a fire or a photo opportunity. Taxes are high and services are low. You'd have to be insane to live in Ossining. Briarcliff is THE place!

I'm sure this was for the whole selling to kids, and for the Four Loko. Stores in NY state were required to pull it off the shelf. The cops were just doing their jobs.

Hello. My husband and I live in Midtown Manhattan. We are looking to move to the burbs and have noticed that Ossining has some great houses at great prices. It also appears that there is a train to Grand Central. What is Ossining like? Good schools? Town square? Shopping? We plan to take a drive to see the town, but are hoping for some info. Thanks!

I would say that Ossining has no spirit. that's true of a lot of the suburbs (if not all), but Ossining takes it to a lower level. I did buy a pair of snow boots at the Army Navy (the store generally sucks) over the winter, and the Farmers Market is nice, but downtown is ugly/filled with litter, and the future seems to be luxury apartments and more hispanic people speaking no English. I think there is no hope for the future renaissance of Ossining and would not recommend living here. I've been here 5 years, looking forward to greener pastures. Bicycling stinks cus of the hills and typical busy suburban streets with no bike lanes.

Crime and Taxes our are biggest issues today. Since we have no control over the illegal activities in our town, drugs, assaults, and illegal immigration. We have focused our efforts on the business community at large, with our misguided attempt to look as if our organization to doing something to combat these problems. It seems we are out of touch with our children and have decided to blame our businesses instead of ourselves.... Is it any wonder why we have so many vacant store fronts through out Ossining....

Four Lokos were reformulated to meet State Liquor Authority of NY requirements and placed back on the market. Ignorance is bliss.... Stay misinformed and you will live a happy life
