PEEBLES, Ohio | A Peebles man was injured Aug. 28 when the mattress he was on, in the back of a 1988 Jeep Comanche truck, went airborne.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, Austin B. Daniels, 18, was in the cargo area of the vehicle driven by Tonya S. Evans, 36, of Peebles, on top of an unsecured mattress while the vehicle was being driven north on Ohio 41.
Daniels was ejected from the mattress, sustained injuries to his left knee, ankle and foot, and left a trail of denim on the pavement.
He was taken to University of Cincinnati Hospital by AirEvac ambulance.
The incident was witnessed by a driver who was behind the vehicle when Daniels went flying, but avoided hitting him.
