I'm considering moving to Pecos for work, yes it's oil lol. What is the housing market like? I haven't seen much for rent or sale. I would like to rent a large house and share rent to save money. Personal experience, prices are appreciated.Thanks.

Rent prices have skyrocketted here in this town. you used to be able to rent a 3 bedroom home for around $500 a month, now your lucky if you find one for under $1200 to $1500. Back two years or so ago homes were affordable and plentiful and would sell for around $15000 and up. Now you wont find one for sale under $40000. Just renting a travel trailer in town will run you $600-$800. The homeowners have taken the housing market to insane prices. Everything in town is expensive now. Work has slowed down as it is headed towards the carlsbad/roswell area. Still plenty but not as it was when Forbes reported last year.

There are 2 realtors in town they are the Pecos area realty co. and acme realty. they have no online listings only a office in which you must go pick up listing paper in person. If you purchase a home stay away from the east side and north side of town. To many druggies roaming at night, not to mention they are the parts of town with most abandoned destroyed homes from the years of being left unattended. The town has subjected to making mancamps for workers since the housing is real scarce. If you have a trailer it would be best to bring it rent a lot or buy a piece of bare land. You can log on to facebook and look up the pecos texas trading post or the pecos online garage some people post rentals on those pages. If it is oil field work you want look into Midland and Odessa they are bigger cities and have more amenities. Pecos doesn't have a mcdonalds or any shopping areas except for walmart and a grocery store really.

The cities of odessa and midland have plenty of work. What kind of work you interested in they have lots of driving positions, roustabout, rig work etc.

Wow! That was very nice of you to take the time to help Tim. You gave him the information he needed and some. Sounds to me like you know your town. Wish more people were as helpful as you.

Take care!
