They only let people on that they want to. Have you noticed there are certain people that can always go on Pecos Talking especially the Mayor. Then when you have the humane society that would like to go on and talk about the mobile vet clinic, they aren't allowed to. I thought it was a public service show. The mobile vet clinic is being brought in from El Paso April 30th and May 1st as a public service to the citizens of Pecos. The humane society is a non-profit organization. How do they get the word out that this service is available and at a discounted price to spay or neuter for $62.50? Do you know what Dr. Box charges? But Bill Randall Cole says that they are "competing with Dr. Box" and therefore, won't let them on. He was offered the clinic and turned it down. This mobile clinic is something that this town needs.

Are you serious? Debbie Thomas is in charge of the Museum! The one in charge of the Chamber is on every other Wednesday by the way. And to the others that question why some people are allowed to go on but not others, it's because they pay to go on there! It's a form of advertising and the businesses that are on pay a fee to be able to be on there. You guys should do a little research or at least ask someone before you start putting crazy shit on here!

If you want something done about the zoo, you need to file your complaints with the City - even though it won't do any good since the majority of the citizens voted to keep the zoo. That was a mistake. The City promised to do alot, what the USDA told them and all they did was build a fence. You can go to the USDA website and pull up the inspection reports. So many violations, and then, bam, no violations. Something is amiss there. We need to petition the city to put it on the ballot again and maybe this time, the voters will vote to close it. You can also launch a complaint with the USDA which the Humane Society has done and never got a response. But if enough citizens file a complaint, like they did with the State Health Department on the city pound, if will get their attention. That is what it is going to take. Pressure on the city. Call Channel 9 and Channel 7. Get the media out here. The Humane Society needs your support to get the zoo closed and these poor animals relocated to proper care.
Update on the mobile clinic - it will be May 14th and May 15th. The vet had an emergency. You can sign up at Farmers Insurance, 305 S. Cypress or go to the website www.peopleforpawshumanesociety.org . The Humane Society had to buy ads to get it on KPTX during Hotline, the noon news, and one 30 second spot at night. The need people to sign up or this service will not be available and it is something Pecos needs.

At a minimum the city needs to hire someone who is qualified as a zookeeper to do right by the animals. If they can't do that then they need to shut it down.

The City won't hire a full time zookeeper. Doesn't have the money and what zookeeper would come to Pecos anyway. It is not a zoo - it is an exhibition. And exhibition of animal cruelty. The city hired a vet from Carlsbad. How often does the vet come to check on the animals? Maybe once a month?

The zoo needs to be shut down. And take any monies for the zoo, and make the park better for the kids and the community.

Let's start a letter writing and calling campaign to the USDA.

you go, scooby! get rid of the "zoo" and fix up the park. Or if the town is hell bent on keeping the "zoo" put in some exotic animals. WHO in the hell wants to go look at donkeys and longhorns... BORING....

There is a person who is qualified as zookeeper that lives in Pecos, has turned in a resume to the city, and would love to do the job and make the needed improvements to the zoo. All the problems with the zoo lie squarely on the city's shoulders.
