It is where you get gas between Van Horn and Odessa.

It is where you get gas between Odessa and VanHorn.

It is where you throw your empty bottle out the window.

It...oh, see, I didn't use race, drugs or alcohol.

I wasn't trying to make anything interesting. I was seeing if people are able to say positive things instead of all the negative shit that the Pecos forums are inundated with.

It is hard. We make the newspaper and news channels monthly. The leadership keeps spending above what it can afford. We have a history with narcotics. We have a history lately with murders. More people are moving out than are moving in. Our infrastructure is nonexistent. We have more closed stores than open ones. We have restuarants that sometimes make you sick. We have one of the highest tax rates in Texas.

Should I keep going?

Yes, everyone knows the problems with the town and that in itself is a problem. Everyone focuses so much on the negative that we forget to look at good things in the town. If we continue to forget to look at the good things left in this town, we will lose them.

It does'nt matter where you live, you need to love yourself before you can love anything else. The problem with Pecos is the people, not the majority but a few(mostly the ones that comment on this website). I enjoy living here in Pecos because it is quiet, its what I was looking for. I ignore all the negativity that I hear and boy I hear alot. I go to work every day and I enjoy what I do, I go home and relax with my spouse and enjoy the outside with my dogs. On the weekends, I take a nice drive to Odessa/Midland listening to some nice music, then I enjoy eating out at a nice restaurant and treating myself to some shopping. I then come home and relax. A small town with no traffic, no loud noises and no over populated. Stress free. The problem with most people is that you all only think about material stuff. If Pecos were to get national restaurants and fancy retail stores you would still find something to complain about. You need to make the best of where you live and how you live. And, about all the drugs, hoes, alcholoics and bad politics..guess what, it exists everywhere, it just shows more in smaller towns then on big towns. Enjoy your Life, you be much happier.

Nobody is holding their breath Neiman Marcus Aint coming here nor would they come to Midland. As far as a chain resterant hate them. But a little sandwich coffe bar would never make it.Pecos is a poverty stricken town everyone is on foodstamps. It will never ever be Ft.Davis or marfa.First of all it has hard bad water. There is not the clientel for a healthfood store or anything with any polish. The cost of living is low this is good and it is quiet for the most part.Becuase of the huge population living off government new bllod is not going to want to come here this is unfortunate but This is how it will always be here it is extremely depressing. So refill your perscription to anti depressants or go grab a bottle or find that church to beat the bible cause it is not getting Any betta

lovePecos, I enjoyed reading your assessment of Pecos. I felt the same way for 40 years that I lived there. My roots are still in Pecos eventhough I live in Odessa, however, I consider Pecos my home and will defend it to the end. The biggest problem in Pecos is its youth, no desire to better themselves and thus they end up using the politics, lack of social infrastructure. Quit using every excuse imaginable to justify the lack of educational interest, and the lack of social interacition. There were far few places to eat or socialize when we were young. We made due with what we had and never complained about what little we had. I challenge the youth of Pecos to be proactive in their educational interests, believe me, education is the only way out in today's times. Wish you luck.

pecos is my hometown 2 and i agree that the youth is the problem but the parents are the ones to blame yes most are hard working, respectable people but they fail to raise they children with the same values that they were raised with. most are so busy helping to get their kids out of trouble instead of letting them learn there lesson. hell they are raising there grandkids so that their kids could keep having more kids. alchol sex drugs and a higher belief are a part of life every where you go its up to you to decide what kind of life you want to live. the choices you make today will impact you eventually. i challenge the parents to break the cylce and be a positive role model in their kids life and their community
