Thank goodness we had an uneventful season for wildfire here in Santa Fe area. I was much afraid that the water shed burning would not have progressed before a wildfire got in there and caused big damage.
I know this has been a long term project and we hope they keep up the good work. Fire has a natural role to play in our eco system and is part of maintaining a healthy forest.

The smoke will be temporary--much less than if the forest is allowed to become excessively overgrown and prone to a much larger, catastrophic fire. The forest will be healthier, and our watershed protected. Good job, Guys and Gals!

What about the hunters up in the Pecos Wilderness who pay hundreds of dollars to hunt and spend even more to get ready and there is nothing but smoke up there. Why can they do this off season.

When is it "off season"? This is probably as good a time to do it before winter snows set in. In the Springtime it is too windy to burn safely. "Los Alamos" ring a bell. I commend the forest service for trying to do this as safely as possible. Whether you are a spring fisherperson, summer camper, winter skier, or fall hunter; no matter when this occurs someone is going to be inconvenienced, upset or "angry". This needs to be done for the health and saftey of the watershed and the people who use it.No matter who gets angry.

Just think.....if not for the idiots that think that anything done in the forset by man is bad...if they allowed selective logging there would be no need for the burns....not to mention creation of jobs...

This is why these burns are announced,
better a prescribed burn than an out of control burn with no warning.
