Why is the Delta County Judge so insistent on keeping Mrs. Burns as auditor?

Mrs Burns job is gone as of Sept.1 unless she wants to work for free.
The court voted 3 to 2 to not budget the position in next years budget.
That pissed off the sheriff and the judge.

What will the poor thing do then? I mean, how dare them kick a poor widow woman out the door? She would have to get a real job if that happened. Such a shame.

The answer to your question is that he can't run the court house on his own. He likes having a mommy figure around. I like you judge so stand on your own two feet and throw out mama Burns.

If you decide to keep her around for Coffee & Donuts clean her up a little bit. She needs to learn how to smile and be nice and a new wardrobe wouldn't hurt either.

Judge Carrington is only concerned for the old regime. It is truly a shame because he would do a good job if he would shake off the old regime and do what is good for Delta County Citizens.

Please Judge think about all of us out here in the county. We need you to stand up for us and not for Whitney, Burns, and Woods. It is not good to have these friends. We need your ideas and not theirs. Get away from these people. Close the coffee shop down and get some work done for the Citizens of Delta County. We need you no them.

Malone Oats would have made an excellent county judge. He's bright, motivated, ambitious, loves Delta County. His ancestors are some of the oldest families of this county. They were here before Delta County WAS a county.

Well I went to school with him. He was far from the best person to be a judge. He might have been okay, but there is nothing wrong with Carrington, except your slander. He was drafted by some members of the community because they believed he would do a good job, and was voted into by a majority. He hasn't even been in office that long. Give him a chance to do his job.

This category is the for the County Auditor so if there is information otherwise please direct it to the appropiate section as to not clutter her "dedicated" section.

And a new wardrobe, amongst other things, wouldn't hurt either.

Curious to know why the County Auditor didn't know monies were missing when Mark Basham was Sheriff, or where it was all going. As the County Auditor, everyone is to be audited, at least, once a quarter. Thoughts to ponder.

Perhaps, the county auditor did know that the money was missing. It certainly happened on her watch. She is to blame whether she knew or didn't know. If she did know and did nothing she should be held accountable. If she didn't know but should have known, she should be promptly fired.

Not taking up for the auditor, but Bassham never turned in the monies that were missing to the county treasurer like he was supposed too.(bond monies)
As a result the was no receipts out side of the sheriff's office and the bondee's to be tracked.
She did find out after the people who paid the bonds can in to get there bond monies back once they had appeared in court after Gaylon was appointed and joined into the coverup by making up the short fall for the S.O.(where is the criminal prosecution?)
As for the $12,000 dollars(drug case money), that when into an account the bank under the S.O.'s name.(no record of money deposits in the court house at that time)
Bassham as sheriff had the signature authority to withdraw it, which he did, but it wasn't used for county business. The auditor had no way to audit what wasn't in the county funds.

Part of the sad thing for our county is that they(sheriff, comissioners, judge, others) know about alot of missing moneies, and have not filed charges against anyone involved to recover the monies and stop this behavior from happening again.
Why?

Why do you think there is so much resistance to removing the present county auditor and having an outside audit?

The last audit done by Johnson and Johnson found many glaring irregularities concerning the county auditor's office. The county judge at that time, really did a good job of hiding the dirt.

I would venture that if the truth was really known about county money, there would be several new faces at the state pen.

This has become one of the most slanderous blogs I have ever read. If anyone is really interested in the TRUTH you can go any time to the County Clerk's office and ask for a copy of the last Audit by Johnson & Johnson. I think you will find if you take the time to look at it that nothing was said about the auditors office and since the report is bound it would be very hard to alter it.

But I forgot this has nothing to do with the truth only your opinion and reliable sources opinions

And another thing, I would like to see an accounting, online, of the commissioners' spending like there is of the county statement. If there is a 'cover up' in the courthouse, I believe, it could be the commissioners' just like what happened in Lamar County a while back. I hear the auditor has been questioning the money spent, lately, and that is why they want her out. There may be coverups but those who want it kept secret keep filling the blog with diversion. Get this, you make enough people upset, and it only takes a couple, there will be a door to door done by citizens after research and information has been acquired. Just keep it up. No one was paying much attention until now. Remember back in the 80's when one of the Scott's tried to lie to the good people of the community to get the schools consolidated? Well they upset some people and there were door to door visits made to correct the matter. That could be acomplished again. If you have something to hide, know that people will research. Don't assume that they will just take the word of a blog.

If I understand the "system" correctly, the county auditor signs, along with the county treasurer ALL checks for ALL purchases made by the county. It seems to me that the county auditor would have a ring-side seat to see what the commissioners are spending money on.

However, the commissioners would not have the same opportunity to see the dispersement of county funds for payments made on behalf of others besides themselves.

Another thing, the county auditor position is NOT an elected position. The county auditor is a paid employee. Why then, is she allowed to goof off for an hour each morning drinking coffee and go to lunch for a couple of hours, and do private work while on the job?

In politics, things like Social Security, the Defense Budget, and Highway spending is often call a "Sacred Cow" because almost everyone in government is afraid to challenge it. The Auditor must be a sacred cow also!
