Just finished reviewing the District Emoloyee Handbook and DEA Local online. You are incorrect. I recommend you read up on them. Going to the school district's website or a simple Google query will provide the links needed to review the information.
I followed your advise, and this is what found, "I can't say that I'm surprised that your employer doesn't wish to pay you when you take time off of work for personal matters - although it does benefit you that you can use sick time as personal time. As for not being paid for overtime, that's one of the downsides of collecting a salary. If you think you are misclassified as an exempt employee, you may find this information from the U.S. Department of Labor to be helpful."

No uniforms being a former student we know it dont help at all its just there so the school can try a make everyone equal guess wat were not its makes everything worse for instence to everyone saying yes to uniforms ,hair, fascal hair, no nail polish, no ear rings, even the shoes ,jewery.ect
List can go on they even give you iss or daep for that taking you away from class. You say uniforms are the solution nope they need to fix this before they start worrying bout education

Marcos, an individual who takes sick leave should not be doing work for other clients. An individual should not leave his employment during working hours to work for someone else.

Well I personally think that the board has much bigger problems to tackle than the uniforms. Like getting the academics up to a proper standard and hiring teachers who are good!! Some of these teachers here are not qualified and shouldn't be in classrooms. I'm so disappointed to find out that these are huge issues right now when there are so many others that are far more important. Go figure another sucky school year ahead with a school board and superintendent who don't give a shit.

It is true that the district is in bad shape, but just hiring new teachers isn't the solution. The district needs students who want to learn. Best of all, the district needs parents who work with their children before they come to school. Parents should have a partnership with the school district. If one decides to have a child, they have the responsibility of educating their child. And what I mean by that this is, "The parent(s) should make sure their child or children do their homework and study." Parents should buy more books and less toys or electric games. It takes a community to educate a child.

Mira Tu, perhaps, as you said. But, the people in PISD should nto worry, they have hired or will hire H R director to hire only great teachers, they have plenty of top level administrators with only "students" in mind, they have a supt. with a PhD, wow, what a difference that makes.
The sorry part out of all of this is that the board feels compelled to hire someone to lead the distreict with a "doctorate" What difference has the PHd had on the lives of students thete?? None, all it has done is made the board pay the ssupt more because she has a PHD. Idiots!!

I totally agree with you! Some of the board members are pleased to see that their children are the stars of some sport never mind their learning.

To all school board members. Don't pick gray as another choice for tops. In the Spring one or more of you school board members voted to buy the athletic department new uniforms because your deal was that black was not a school color. So you spend thousands to dollars to buy new uniforms. Those uniforms were two or three years old when my son was a Senior. Well, in my opinion that was a very dumb decision. Now,Gray! for our uniform tops. It is not a school color.

The board will be discussing the uniform issue. Let's see how many concerned parents show up. Remember it is not just whether to wear uniforms or not. What rules will stay in place. People think because they do away with uniforms they don't have to follow rules. The uniform is not the problem. It's the fact that some students don't like to follow rules. These students most often as adults are able to keep a job because they don't like following instructions or rules.

What is the big deal with the so called "uniforms'?The kids at High School wore whatever they pretty much pleased. The green top were was it under a fashionable purple, red, yellow etc. top. And the so called uniforms bottom well some wore almost no bottoms with those short shorts. and the colors some were almost white. So what the big deal about complaining about having to wear "uniforms" since when?
As far as "expressing themselves" well so is graffiti on walls and tattoes. They can "express themselves" on weekends.
AND as far as the school board member who said "they should be punished" say what the school's job is not to punish that the police's job. The school's job is to "teach" I guess he doesn't realize that not all kids live in mansions like him. Most kids can't even find their shoes in the morning much less a "belt" by the way how does not having a belt on effect learning?
No wonder the district is such a mess! Let's worry about "scores" not "uniforms" for goodness sakes!

Instead of worrying about the kids having uniforms. Why doesnt the school district do more on having the teacher actually teach. Its sad when a child knows more than the teacher nowadays. So aside from buying our kids new clothes to wear around the house or family outings or whatever we still have to buy uniforms.....hmm there is bullying oh and the all time parents favorite 15 16 yr olds getting pregnant. Wow
