Instead of worrying about changing the uniform policy, you should think about academics. how about a no roaming the hall way policy? These kids are taking over the schools & you are worried about uniforms! Never Again!! Uniforms are cheaper- 8 tops VS 60 tops.. a no brainer!

My kids still need regular clothes. So regardless of having uniforms or not I have to buy my kids clothes.

You are worried about uniforms Rhonda, really, try tackling issues like bullying, kids roams the halls and nothing being done by administration. Take up real issues, like hello academics. Don't disappoint us.
True! We have real issues in our school and its not uniforms! How about hiring good teachers for our schools and teachers that care about our kids and grades!

As a student a few years ago in Pearsall, I liked uniforms. My parents didn't buy me clothes, period- for school or otherwise. I worked and bought my own clothes. I literally had maybe 10 total shirts and 6 total pants.. Maybe 3 shirts and 3 pants for school so washed twice a week so I would wear them over and over because they were name brand and I wanted to fit in and not be an outsider. I wouldn't have had enough of my own money to buy regular clothes and not be worried about bullying or people judging me.. To me, uniforms are GOOD because there is less peer pressure, bullying, etc. Uniforms allow students to be somewhat equal and for you people saying she isn't focusing on academics.. This relates to academics. With less focus on clothes, students can focus on school work. Students should be allowed to have shirts untucked since some are chubby and some students/parents can only afford those ugly uniform pants that aren't very flattering with tucked in shirts. Hunter green and khaki all the way... There's more to this argument but generally, UNIFORMS ARE THE WAY TO GO

Uniforms. It's easier on parents and kids. We'd rather have better administration and grades than worrying about uniforms.

Wearing school uniforms does not stop bullying, the uniform policy is currently in place and there are fights and bullying going on everyday. Wearing a uniform does not make you smarter or make you focus on school work. I would rather see them make a rule of not wearing face piercings or tattoos or wearing baggy pants that show your underwear. This country needs to get away from the idea that everyone is equal and everyone should win a ribbon just because you show up BS. No more uniforms is my vote!

If you all are so concerned about the school dress code, then you should attend the school board meetings and voice you opinions to the appropriate audience, or have gone to the DEIC meeting and voiced your concerns to them, because they are a committee that make recommendations to the board about the Dress Code. Noticed I keep putting dress code and not uniforms because under the policy it is considered a dress code, not a uniform policy.

Kids get picked on all the time because of the clothes they wear. The cost of living in Pearsall is high because of the oil boom. Buying different clothes is a lot for some parents. Uniforms look good anyways.

There is a lot of bullying and parents that can't afford the nice clothes like others the bullying will get worse. Buying 3 to 5 uniforms over regular clothes is a lot cheaper

School uniforms are better and it is cheaper for those that have a lot of kids. Focus the students good education not on what they wear.

I didn't vote for you Rhonda but for someone who lives with mommy getting rid of a dress code is also good because you don't have bills like a regular family does. You can afford regular clothes and not be affected by it unlike half of us we budget and in July we start preparing our children with the uniforms. FOCUS ON ACADEMICS AND BEING A TEA RECOGNIZED DISTRICT AND THE DISTRICT GETTING A PASSING REPORT CARD! Focus Rhonda!
I agree with your comment.

What are your thoughts on them?
Rhonda, the issue on uniforms is an issue that should be discussed early in the Spring. Some parents are already buying their children's next year's clothes. They would have to start over.

I think there are more pressing issues that the board must take up. For example, the principle at Junior High. The score dropped dramatically under his leadership or lack. off. Have you looked into the number of teachers needed for the coming year?

If I remember correctly, the dress code originally required Kelly green shirts tucked in with a belt and khaki colored pants, shorts or skirt for girls.
Then there was a change to allow two other shades of green like olive green and some other wack color.
Then there was another change to allow blue jeans or khaki pants.
Now what? There is basically a watered down "uniform policy" here at P town. Not all kids follow it just to annoy or to see if they can get away with it. Yes there is a big problem with tattoos and piercings by both boys and girls as mentioned above.
I think the district should start getting stronger in ALL subjects, not only focus on so called "academics", that is a broken record. If a student would only take their role as student seriously, much like other children from different countries, such as Japan, Canada, South Korea, Finland and others. The development of the mind is more than academics sorry to say. There is no focus on culture and the arts because its "not academic" or is "not sports-based". This goes to prove how our school leaders base their logic and vision for the schools.

It's like Pearsall is in a vacuum when it comes to the cultivation of the mind. Where is the inquisitiveness in our children? Where is their sense of wonder? It's all been bottled into trivia and entertainment, it's been smothered under a deep bed of popular culture and gossip.
Oh my... I explained too much... lost so many people's interest after the second paragraph because they had to respond to a text or get ready to watch the spurs...
