You are totally wrong! We are very proud of our band. Many Mavericks fans young and old attend football games solely to see the band. That is not to say we don't support our Mavericks. I feel the Lady Mavs do not get the recognition they deserve no matter the sport. The Lady Mavs went to the playoff several years and never got recognized for their accomplishments.

I was in band until this year because I heard that all the band directors were leaving. Just another case of "The School Board Letting Good Employees Go" because anyone with a mind knows that letting the whole staff go is a sure way of DESTROYING a program. The Alemans were the back bone, the STRUCTURE of our band. Now, the only one thats left is Daniel and he is "retired" I honestly DO NOT know if our band will ever be the same.

I do agree that little if any recognition is given to the Lady Mavs for their efforts. I know I support them along with ALL our athletic teams and our band. However, like everyone, I do have my opinions.

I just got back from supporting our Maverick band and am happy to say there were many people from Pearsall in attendance to support the band. Yes, they did get a rating of 1 at the Hondo.

The band did great tonight. They got a rating of one. There was one band director that messed it up for alot of students. That was Mr. Salinas. Let me tell you Mr. Sanchez will be a great band director given the chance.

Are you saying that you quit band because the other band directors left? If not I apologize, if so.. then kids like you are the reason some programs get DESTROYED. You just give up and dont even give it a chance. You Upper-Classmen ruin it for the Lower-Classmen because they come in not knowing alot, and your supposed to be there to help them out. It's a TEAM effort. I mean come on...if your not gonna give 100% why even be in the band. This is where that Mighty Maverick Marching Band Pride is supposed to come out! It's not all necessarily the band directors, the kids need to WANT it. I know the band did as good as they could this year. But it was kind of weird not placing in the first few competions. I was really happy for them for getting a Division I in Hondo, they looked really good. And also just want to say that I LOVE band. I was in band, my older brother and sister were in band, and my little brother is in band now, So I will cheer the band on..for many years to come. I just wish some of these other kids CARED.

I think the band did good, but its not good enough, they need to get some new songs, "I go to Rio" is getting old. I wish the best of luck to the band in the future but get some new songs! I went to the Hondo Game and Hondo's band was way better sad to say, Pearsall needs to take some lessons from them.

He won't retire because, he's on retire/rehire
meaning he gets 2 hefty checks instead of 1.
He keeps old,old stuff. It's a wonder that the
band does as well as they do. Also has his favorite families, if those kids are late no
big deal, if you are not from those families
he yells at them.He really never has care how
the band looks, his thing is how they sound.
I always felt sorry for our kids in the band
because they never look as good as other bands
when you go to see them at contest. It's not the kids fault.

People come on, support the band and remember the Pearsall Pride. The Alemans only helped the band in my opinion and being there when they won state,I can compare the marching, the music and the reason they played I Go To Rio. This year was not a competition year,so the emphasis is put on the marching, people not the music. The new directors can bring in new ideas true, but a director that runs students away from band is not a person we really need. Eventhough many students chose to take another class instead this year, I know of some that came back because Mr. Salinas was not here. I really wish all the band members were able to get to summer band, but some really do have to work, and having driven both my boys everyday to and from, in the a.m. then the other in the p.m. for sectionals that in itself was a job. And don't forget Monday evenings 6-8. So support the kids in the band along with the directors. Next year is a competition year and I hope that all of you can attend the RoughRider or the Rocket Review, Westlakes Invitational , then the District Contest at Hondo, afterwhich CallAllen Area contest then hopefully to the Alamodome (STATE).
Apparently the person that thought Hondo was better last week did not attend the Hondo Contest last year and see the shirts they were wearing...
"The Hondo Owls the good,The Medina Valley Panthers the bad,The Devine Warhorses the ugly...
and Nobody cares about The Pearsall Mavericks."
As far as I'm concerned since none of them have actually won State we're one up on all of them.
So remember The Pearsall Maverick Marching Band and the directors really deserve a salute.

I understand all that you are saying, but we are not talking about pass years, I was in the Pearsall Band in the eighty's and it is a good band program for music, but we are talking marching band and by the way Medina Valley has won state in 1983 get your facts right and we are not talking last year we are talking this year.

isn't the internet fantastic?
1983-1984 3A state marching stats:
1. denver city
2. graham
3. midlothian
4. llano
5. atlanta

what i'm trying to say is that the kids today need to want to win to have your pride.

Dan does need to retire, but why would he when the expectation are so low? Old school music, old school formations....PHS needs new blood and someone that is fair to all kids, not only to the band boosters kids. If you were a student in the late 70s, your kid is probably in the band, still playing the same music you did. What year was it that the flag girls had such horrible uniforms and ugly ass flags?
