The Fix is in, Mayor Mufi just instructed the construction crew from the Department of Facility Maintenance to install a “female sanitary napkin dispenser” in the Chief’s Office Restroom.

I am not surprised by the latest turn of events. Tandal has always been a “Police Man’s Police Man”. We should be happy that she is going to be the next Honolulu Chief of Police. I am sure that she will address the issues on lack of the department’s “Man Power”. I sure hope that she is going to do something about the officers who just stand around on the streets during special duty looking into the “Man Holes”.“Man” I just wish everyone would give it a rest already.

a feamle chief might really improve things. HPD is not respected on the maianland due to poor performance and over paid officers.
Possibly. I've heard that females are much better at spelling than men.

Excellent! If they sent out the work order today, the job should be completed by January.

Dr. Kealoha shows fairness - he treats all officers equally, regardless of their rank...and that's what HPD needs right now.

Capt. Louie Kealoha is the only person who has gone above & beyond for our officers. He is a very respectable man, who is genuine to all people of all ranks. He treats everyone equally & devotes his own time to better the lives of others. Many of my fellow officers have a steadfast support & gratitude for Capt. Kealoha. For over 15 years, Capt. Kealoha has voluntarily coached, mentored, provided free classes & held mock interviews that helped prepare HPD's future leaders & supervisors. With Capt. Kealoha’s help, countless amounts of officers were able to advance their careers into Sergeant, Lieutenant, & Captain Positions. HPD needs someone who will change HPD for the better and restore Integrity, Honesty, Respect, & Fairness. I urge the Mayor & the Police Commission to make a wise decision & give Captain Kealoha the four stars he deserves!

How many of the other "finalist" have done the same or anything remotely similar?

Captain Kealoha's inner-reflexion process that he applies to all decisions he makes is just one indicator of how he arrives at any decision that will ultimately affect not only management and administration, but the rank and file and community that he serves.

This is true leadership in action.

The chief should be someone with prior police experience. Not just some joe off the street. In South Dakota we had the number one police force in the nation. NY Times, Jan 23, 2009. The New York Times never lies.

Louie, tell your wife stop blogging. Cristine Camp, stop lying you know who Tandal is..she's the one who bought your son a baby gift, and was in the hot tub, and has been seen eating lunch with you. She is also the ne who goes to Las Vegas every month or so and has the gambling problem. She's the one MUFI said to promote so he can say I got a woman chief, so I should be govenor. MUFI, bullies don't make good govenors

Could someone confirm if Camp actually asked the committee for 2 addl names? I heard that she just added them on herself and upset the committee, who in turn started resigning. Can she do this? Why have a committee to begin with? Isn't this another Mufi Mixup?

Attended a training conference on leadership and discipline in Vegas a couple of years back. Noticed that a blonde female HPD asst chief attended. Also noticed that she was there only for the opening session. From the break on, she was only doing surveillence with the slot machines. Could this be the same Tandel that is in the running for chief. Someone should tell her that we noticed her attendance, or should we say lack of. Our guys get into big trouble for doing things like that.

The next Chief should be from the mainland with no ties to anyone here in politics. Fat chance of that happening 'tho. Chicago & Phoenix, they should be able to handle Hawaii's manini criminals.

If the selection is made solely for political reasons, the rank and file will smell it a mile away. Kinda like how a brave person can always smell a coward in the room. Then the rank and file will consider their new police chief illegitimate, and will have no respect for that person. Kinda like everybody knows who has always hidden behind desk jobs throughout their careers in order to avoid danger. Kinda like when you avoid a person at work because you notice their true predatory or cowardly nature. you know what I mean?

The Chicago guy should get it. We need to try something different here. The City of Chicago is far better at managing itself, and Honolulu could learn something from it. I personally believe that the City of Honolulu would benefit from having a few more Managers who are from much more successfully run cities, like Chicago, Boston and the like.
