When david robbed the bank, I know who built his get away car. He was never one to beat around the bush for what he did. He took ownership. I would read a book about him. I dont know how old these postings are. I only pray that Leo is improving. he was a good police officer. Anyway Someone I know worked at the prison in Powatan. He said dave would climb a fence and fall right on his chest for the heck of it. He may have commited some crimes, and people can call him what they want to call him, but the man would do anything for you as long as you didnt cross him. he always manned up for what he did. I say good luck Dav with the book. I have heard many stories about the man, and they were great stories. It would be very interesting to read it from his point of view

How You are right,I apoligize,He did take a life, and nothing can replace the life he took,I did sound like I was commending him,but I guess I was just trying to say he did have good in him, because he was so good to us as kids.Again I am sorry, but we had it growing.Nothing can ever make up for what he did ,that is so true. They may have been someones father, brother, son ,and friend.I was to young to remember.

David is a legend in his own way. He was always good to children and would give you the shirt off his back if he liked you. As for the illegal stuff, he is a legend in his own way also. He is well known and talked about thru out the va prison system as well as the federal. He has never hurt an officer but definitely helsd his own with inmates. With David there is no good or bad, its just David. There is good in him despite the bad

I would love to read his life story. I've heard many stories growing up in Narrows about him but I too would like to hear it from his point of view. Yes he took a life which is most definitely wrong but I've heard good stories about him as well. So I would love for a book to be written I think it would be interesting to read. As for Leo I hate to hear that he was sick don't know if he has already passed or what just found this post & was heart broken when I read about him. Leo was a good police officer & would help you out any way he could. So if he has passed then a good man was lost, if he hasn't then my prayers go out to him.

Would Steve & David Montgomery be the son's of Sam Montgomery, a former police officer in Narrows VA? If so, I went to school with both Steve and David, Narrows HS in the late 1950's. My family knew their Father.

Didn't know the other boys, just David & Steve. I was a student at Narrows High in 1955,56 & part of 57. Transferred to Peterstown High for the remainder of 10th grade and graduated in 1960. Left for Baltimore the next week after graduation and stayed there 40 years. I found this site my accident....the name David Montgomery rang a bell. Never knew anything about his life until now. I can remember he & Steve's Dad was Sam Montgomery, and at that time a deputy sheriff in Narrows. Is he still alive? This is very sad, and to have stumbled across by accident. Suppose I was meant to read. Thanks for answering.

I would like to read a book about him,I have heard of him all my life also, but it is not my place to judge him ,for the life he led.If I was the judge,it would be life ,for a life. And his Mom always made sure he had money sent to him always.

One I remember well is when he was locked in the drunk tank. Officers went to check on him and he was gone. They knew he couldn't have escaped because he would have had to go by the deputies. They looked for him in the jail and found him..... He had used his arm strength to shimmy up the wall in a corner of the cell and was hanging near the ceiling by pressing out with his hands and feet smiling at the deputies. Incredible arm strength

Yea he was a "great guy". He robbed and killed and who knows what else. Actually he was a nothing but a "legend in his own mind". Too bad the death penalty was illegal at the time, or he would be nothing but dirt in a grave somewhere today.

Does that mean it will be published at a 2nd grade reading level?
