I agree but most of the time the money people use for beer cigs cellphone is just givin to them anyway by family members or they sell their foodstamps They don't have income. When I get up everyday and go to work get stuck in damn traffic when it snows and pay income tax and can barely afford food or lightbill it burns my ass. I understand how people can get in a bind and need help from time to time but people take advantage of the systtom its not fair but life isn't fair and you r the one that has to sleep at night. And it just keeps getting worse.

There was a bill in Richmond to start requiring drug tests for welfare but it was voted down. Democrats claimed it would be hard on poor people.."hard on poor people"??? It would have been hard on druggies but guess they vote Democrat too.

Nope, wrong again.Average taxpaying citizen that has a clue.I rated against them. The rich are feeding you sheep your opinions.Do you donate to charity or buy those little food boxes in the stores at Christmas? It's all helping the poor. What's the difference?
If all government programs to help the poor were cut out;you would still pay the same taxes. And the streets would be full of the homeless and beggars.Bet that would make you proud.

There's alot of difference! Charity is giving of free-will and usually foodstuffs, clothes, etc are provided. Welfare gives money to alot of cheats and dopeheads to buy cigs, beer, and lottery tickets, and its not fair to force people to provide that through taxes.

See what I mean. How do you know how many recipients are dopeheads? The whole welfare thing was started under the Johnson Administration so that the most poor people could be helped and reached. There was much concern at the time that too many were falling throught he cracks and not recieving any help at all.Churches and charitable organizations could not reach out and find everyone who needed help.In this way not so many were left out in the cold,so to speak. There is no way to administer such a program without some recieving help that shouldn't.Nothing works perfectly.
I think the ones who really need it are less noticable. The more problematic recipients draw more attention.

They voted out the pre emotive drug screening for welfare recipients due to the fact that it would be prejudicial to the impoverished by singling out the poor or low classed population for screening and was considered un-fair to signal out one specific class for such screening. That was the official release. I work every day and have since I could walk, always paved my own way through this life. It is hard, yes, but it is rewarding to know that my existence was not from a hand out but from hard, honest work. I have to take drug tests to keep my job and before starting a job, so is it fair to signal out the working class for such screenings for them to be able to work and pay for their own way through life? Yeah, ok so people that get and miss use my hard earned tax dollars for whatever habits they have cannot be bothered because it may hurt their feelings to have to be drug screened to get their benefits. Hummmmm, the irony of it all makes me want to vomit. This world for one more, no wonder we are turning into a third world, if you step on the dainty toes of the welfare system these days you have offended an entire nation of babies who were never made to grow up!

What irony? They need a rating for pretentious(did I spell that right?)
Anyone who has a felony drug conviction can never get welfare again.Their kids can get medicaid or food stamps, but no check or anything for the felon. Not even if they straighten up and kick the stuff.Good enough for me.Drug tests are expensive and people would just "dry out" before they went in to apply.Random surprise testing is even more expensive.
How about jobs that pay a living wage. Most folks I know on any type of assistance would rather make their own living and have no one looking over their shoulder.

Awww, aren't you just the little saviour of the druggies......So, since you are so in to the defense of the drug addicted side of the county then maybe you are willing to allow them to use your hard earned tax money that the government handing out so freely to support a growing nation of people who have made welfare a way of life instead of a helping hand to get through a hard spot. It was my understanding that this was meant as a way to help a person temporarily who was down on the luck. But I know half the people in the country have made this a career goal. They have become so well at working the system and when caught committing welfare fraud they get a time out and then back again. If working people have to take the drug tests to get, and keep a job that pays for this system, then it is only fair for those who use my tax dollars for their living to do the same and anyone who feels one class can be forced to take these tests while the other can collect my hard earned money and not have to is living in a world of puffy unicorn and star fairies and surely needs to drug test themselves and quickly. I have every right to play big brother when it is my hard earned money supporting the abusers of a faulty system!!!!!!!!!!
