the man apparently was walking on the tracks on State Route 44 when the train hit him around 3am At about 3 a.m., the train crew came around a corner and saw a man sitting on the track, a railroad spokesman said.

Shane.....it's "which is walking or sitting"...I can tell you went to a Logan Co. School. And if the train was hauling coal cars from peach creek to Logan ..well they went a little to far...the cars were going to Stirrat if they were empty....going to peach creek if they were loaded..
sucks

I doubt the person would have had time to get out of the way truthfully. We live in a residential area goin up 44 with tracks in our back yard and I am yet to see a train going as slow as they are supposed to be. They all fly down thru here and half of them don't use their horn at the tracks either. I complain all the time about the lack of concern for the safety of those of us that live near the tracks as well as those who walk the tracks. I'm very sorry for the family's loss and I hope that it bring enough attention to the trains to force them to slow down and consider others' safety.
