They are worried that they will have to give back stolen land! They are worried because they stole FROM CSX and built structures on it. If they had jobs they would not even be home during hauling hours!

you are the kind of person that don't know mcuh about people and their homes. No one wants a stinking coal mining company from Maryland coming into a large community and taking charge of peoples roads, destroying land that is not theirs.
These people in Peach Creek and Crooked Creek have owned their own homes there for years, and worked all their lives to pay them off!! Who the hell do you think you are anyway? What if it was your home, and children who were going to have to breath the dust from all those stupid coal trucks all day long? GET REAL!
These same people that you say should be working has put in their share of work over many years; can you say the same thing?
Do a little research and then get on here and shoot your mouth off!

Why don't you that are complaining stop and think, this should be a big boost that the shaken economy in this area needs to help people to get back on their feet, and may be just maybe get somewhat ahead of things again.

You've got to be kidding woman, if it was your house about to be destroyed you'd scream to the high heaven. You're for development as long as someone else takes the lick. I don't care what condition their houses are in, it's still their home.

I'm glad to see there's someone who isn't heartless on these Peach Creek/Crooked Creek mine threads.. Like I've said before, we wouldn't care for there to be 2543534536 coal mines up through here.. as long as its under safe conditions all around... and of course there's not safe conditions when your bringing coal trucks up a road they can't fit on or pass a car on... that's just my two sense though...

But, at what cost? Is this supposed boost ok even if it is at the expense of people potenitally losing their life long homes, even if it is at the risk of making their once safe neighborhood a unsafe place due to all the traffic?

I bet this wouldn't happen if it was Middleburg, even if they had a gold mine wanting to drive thru their streets.

I used to live in the Silver Spring-Tacoma Park area, and you find a lot of millionaires there. If you started blasting, bull-dozing or running coal trucks in front of their houses they'd have you arrested. They make their money in places like WV. where they can do as they please.

I've worked in areas were coal mines have had coal trucks running all hours of the day and night (If you don't think they won't just wait and see. You want to believe everything the coal company says. NOT!)and now the coal companys are gone and the areas are ghost towns. They will either buy you out or drive you out for a dollar.

Let them try to put a coal mine down on the hill above Justice Addition, or Mitchell Heights! Then see how far they get with their stupid Maryland mining company!!

This is PO DUK people. It has coal and that is all this place has. A lot of these houses that are being talked about here being destroyed, probably 50% of them were coal company houses. This is not the first time coal has been mined at Peach Creek. For Christ sake a lot of them have a rail yard view out the front door already. To compare Peach Creek to Mitchell Heights or Middleburg is redicilous. This neighborhood is now and always has been built around coal mines and railroad yards. There is coal there and it is going to be mined. Get over it

I live at Stollings and have coal trucks and other 18 wheelers going by day and night, you get used to it. At least these people driving these trucks are working, not at home collecting welfare or some other "disability" check. Let these mines open and put people to work, we need the jobs in Logan County. I would say the same thing about Mitchell Heights, Midelburg or Stratton Street. Let them buy you out and move if you don't like it.

Hey dumba**,Stollings has a two lane road!!!Peach Creek and Crooked Creek roads are narrow and winding. This could be a very dangerous situation.

You know this is the point that miners are missing - people live in these communities. They have invested time and money into developing their home and livelihoods, yet miners come in from other communities and do what ever is asked of them to keep their jobs. The result is broken homes and impoverished families so a few WV miners can benefit. What is worse is when residents try to defend their selves or sue for damages they are attacked by the miners and the public officials who are supposed to represent them - go figure.

I applaud all of you out there that are standing up to this type of treatment.

I grew up in Logan and don't want to see anyone lose or have their home destroyed but everyone should be grateful that their will be JOBS again. I visit my parents alot and everytime I go to Logan I see more of places out of business and people talking about losing their jobs. Just learn to live with the trucks and dust and yes after a while you won't even notice it. I live beside a 2 lane road that has tractor trailers on it all day and night after a while I don't even think about them.

park your cars in your driveway instead of the street and the road will be a lot wider, oh, i forgot, when most of those houses was built they didn't think of a driveway.

I think all miners should quit work. Get on welfare and let everyone that is complaining
support them. Pay for their kids to go to college.
Pay their medical bills, buy buy their meds. Then see how long it will take them to stop their bitching.

I think that is a lovely idea - all the miners quitting anyway.

Really lady why don't you get it - your husband supports you and your kids by destroying what other people have worked for? As if that is not bad enough we then have to listen to all of you tell us how we couldn't make it without you. Is that some kind of joke or do you really believe that?

Guess what nobody is buying that load of crap your selling because it is clear what your interest is, and it sure AINT everyone else.

I think it is rather funny how some people think that while living in West Virginia they can have nothing to do with coal. There is not a single plastic polymer that coal is not a vital componet in it's production. And by the way you don't want to support coal, fine don't use a computer, don't use phone, don't use a television, don't heat your house with electricity, don't use gas to heat you house either because COAL is also used in the production of the pipes that bring the gas to your house. And for that matter don't use your car, there is not a single componet in a car from the engine to the cup holder that coal is not envolved in the production of. In other words if you want to de-evolve into a pre eighteen hundreds civilization then fine do away with coal.
