According to the information we have, all students are safe and have been relocated to either the Fairmont Princess or the Playa Suites. Before students are allowed to enter these new rooms, they are inspected and cleared by StudentCity, the Playa Suites, and the Fire Commissioner. Food vouchers and phone cards have been given to those students relocated to the Fairmont Princess. Students are being advised by StudentCity to call home and let their parents know they are ok and where they are located. Updated information on the current status is available at www.studentcity.com/playaupdate .

We know that this is a very unfortunate situation for everyone and StudentCity is continuously working around the clock to accommodate all students. However, keep in mind that we have a very large number of students in Acapulco with StudentCity.com , so it is extremely difficult to satisfy each of the student’s specific needs, but will keep trying our best to do so.

Finally, StudentCity has received hotel rooming lists for all students relocated at both the Playa Suites and the Fairmont Princess. Please feel free to contact us at 1-888-777-4642 and we can provide you with a student’s new location and information.

I was one of amber's suite mates and yes the situation was unfortunate and at the time I along with every one else was angry because we hadnt had our questions answered but I soon realized it was because student city was trying to do their job. Student city was working hard to get all spring breakers out of the rooms and getting them accounted for along with coming up with a solution as to where we could go. Our trip, which was her reservation as well, was put up in the Fairmont Princess hotel, a 5 star $800 a night hotel, for 3 nights where everthing, including food and transportation back to the pool and beach, was paid for us-which if you do the math equaled well over our 1800 dollars we spent on the trip.

Amber left us Sunday because she told us that her father had an medical emergency and there where other problems at home, and her mother didn't want her coming in the first place. She also left without telling any of her 7 other roomates, and my friend Mike, called the US Embassy freaking out that she had gone missing.
If there truly was a family emergency then the insurance company would cover it, not just because she wanted to leave, which the article clearly states she wanted to do. Proof of a medical emergency would get her mone back. Offering a free trip is better if you can't claim insurance because you just "want to leave", which I understand she doesn't want but it was offered.
The rest of us stuck through the hard situation and got put up at the Acapulco Fairmont Princess which is an $800 a night hotel, which was worth basically our entire trip in 2 nights, which is how long we stayed.
Studentcity was trying to do their job and get people into other safter hotels and deal with injuries, stolen things, and bigger problems than "I just want to go home" which we all understood very quickly and tried to be calm and let things fall into place, which they ended up doing, very nicely. They also where the ones who put out the fire, because it being a Sunday morning, Mexican's treat it as a day of rest and although they responded, they "looked at the fire".
Studentcity is simply the laison between hotels and students, they are not the hotel. Yes the hotel wasn't safe with the fire alarms and such, but it's a Best Western, not a random hotel chain, which has a set of rules to abide by being a Best Western and being a running hotel in the City of Acapulco, which I am sure both institions have yearly inspections. So Studentcity went into this hotel believe it to be a safe place to bring students.

If you look at the comments you can see that it wasnt the 2400 or so dollars she said it was it was only 1800. She is not the only person to go through this 300 other people did as well and even though at first they were upset about the situation they did not leave the island right away, they stuck it out and still had fun.

This is a bunch of lies. You happened to take information from a liar. They were not on the 18th floor they were downstairs. It wasn't cold outside on that Mexican night. It took her one week to make that money, and shes probably the richest out of all the girls who went on the trip so her complaining makes no sense. Someone had to call the us embassy to find her because she left the group of friends that day. And she said her father had a heart attack which is probably another lie.

Everyone knows that this girl wouldn't know the truth from a lie to save her own life. Next time you should try and find a reliable source for your story as Amber Murphy is the furthest thing from a dependable source that you could have used.
