The mother did the right thing...brave woman. However, the court did what???? 500 cash bail and stay away from the store?? THIS is justice? Give me a break -

About time some parent did the right thing. Might be the only chance her junkie kid will have to get off the dope. All the incidents you hear of where mommies stick up for or deny that it was their little angel, only perpetuate the problem. Good work Mom, might be the only chance he gets, takes more gourage to do the right thing than to deny the problem.

It took a lot of courage for this mother to do the right thing. I hope her son gets the help he needs to turn his life around.

Well done mom. With your decision, you might have saved your sons life and destiny. Sometimes it is hard to deal with kids, specially when they decide to go to the drugs and or alcoholism side. To be honest, I think there was too much leniency in releasing him so easy. A little time in jail could have helped a long way.

Good for that mom. Taking responsibility for being a parent. Its not always easy decisions that parents have to make. Tough love comes with the job of being a parent. tO MANY PARENTS TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT AND JUST LET THEIR KIDS DO WHATEVER THEY WANT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO GET INTO A FIGHTING MATCH OR WHATEVER WITH THEIR KIDS. If more parents would start being parents instead of being friends to their kids the world would be a better place all the way around. Good for you mom!!!!!!!!!!

By ignoring the problem , will not make it go away. Break the law own up to it pay the price and go on. You in turn are as guilty as the one who committed the crime or wrong doing. Wake up people

If there is any question this mother saved her sons life here it is, I bailed mine out of a situation that he would have done time for, not wanting him to have a record and then within months I had him picked-up on a section 35 as his oxycontin addiction became unbearable. The court put him back on the streets because his girl friend also a addict said she would make sure he went to counselling and stayed clean. We don't have him any more, sometimes jail is the only way I could not see it at the time. Mom you saved his life hopefully for a long time.

congrats to the mother. it must have been hard to turn her son in. I would have done the same. Now he will be punished for what he has done and hopefully get the help he needs to get on the right track in life.

The boy is lucky to have his mother. Someone who loves and cares for him and did the right thing. Too many parents think they need to be their children's friends. Kids have a lot of friends but only one mom and one dad. So they need the mom and dad to be the mom and dad and not one of their buddies.

Let him wallow further in his criminal activity and drug addiction, then say your final goodbyes at his funeral. I hope you were sterilized at birth, we don't need more of YOUR kind of thinkers in the area.

Sorry for your loss red but there are no guarantees people will change after section 35 or even a longer incarceration. Some people just have to hit bottom on there own and there are those who have no bottom. This mother is fighting to save her sons life and hope he gets the help he needs.

Kids need their parents. I work in the school system and it is unbelievable how many kids are being brought up with their parents being their friends instead of being the parents they need to be . Let me tell you it is not for the best. The results ARE VERY DISTURBING.

This is an example of why this kid turned out to be a criminal.
Peopl;e are either born genetically defective and destined to be a criminal, or they are raised by f-in bad parents and learn how to be criminals.
If your kid is a criminal or a junkie, guess what? It is your fault. They came from you (genetically) and were raised by you.
If this parent had been a good parent, then this kid would only have genetics to blame.

If you don't want to be turned in or caught doing something wrong I suggest people should think before they act. Take the punishment and stop blaming other people because you got caught doing something wrong!! Your pathetic!
