Obviously you don't live on Glen road or it's side streets. We have so many car accidents from speeders as people try to pull out of their roads. It is not just dangerous for pedestrians.
P.S. We don't let our kids play in the street.
No, I don't live on Glen Rd., but I am a Wilmington resident and everybody who knows their way around Wilmington uses that road as a short cut to get around the traffic. They always have and they always will. I'm sure you do too. The Police know that people speed on that road, that's why they park there to catch them.

It'll be just another dirty, disgusting fast food resturant where fat people take their fat children because they are too lazy to cook. Anyone who "likes" McDonalds or any place of the like is fat. These places add nothing good to the community but ex-cons and higher obesity rates.

Actually, not even close. I eat steak, chicken, etc...I am very healthy and do not mind a burger every once in a while. Although, a place like this can't offer nothing but a greaseburger made out of cats. THESE places just contribute to fat kids and fat parents.

When is enough, enough. Town leaders think of your constituents who are hard working individuals that travel up & down route 38, for a paycheck to pay taxes to live in our wonderful town. Main St has become "Neon Village" must we turn it into Rte 1.
I agree with you to a point. Wilmington does not have to become a neon rainbow but please, while out shopping, the only place to grab a quick bite to eat before heading into the vaste wasteland of tempting, processed foods we dont need to buy, we call Market Basket,, is Mcdonalds and there is NO place to have a decent breakfast unless you go over to the Colonial Plaza at "As Good As It gets" which is a fine place, but doesnt help those of us heading toward market basket or tj maxx . We need a coffee shop. Some place for the townies and elders to congregate in the morning. Not subs, not chinese food, not mcdonalds, not pizza and not a donut shop that discourages sitting down. We need a friendly mom and pop coffee shop. Again.like we had in the catering place that moved on, "Friendlys" or, for you older residents that may remember, "scottys" We all ready lost our wonderful shoe store and hardware store and what we got in return was a lame cowboy hat and yippee yi o ki ay redneck store that thankfully, has left the building. I dont know if sonic will be good or not but its not what we need right now. we need a place to relax, read the paper and know the waitress by name, Even tewkbury has friendlys.

McDonalds, Burger King, Royal Dynasty, 99's, Rocco's, Simad's, Subway etc. are NOT upscale eateries.
The poster was referring to Westford. A roundabout way of bragging about the town he/she lives in.
I'd rather live in non descript wilmington that the yuppies haven't poisened yet, than a sterilized and gentrified town like Westford.

The drive-in in Milford NH is great $20 gets 6 people in for double features. Sonic should approach Market Basket about buying the old drive-in site next to Brunswick and go in there.

We used to like the drive in too. Seriously, Chelmsford, the Wamasit, and the one on the Merrimack. Went all the time. Seems like a lot of the fun stuff is gone.

<quoted text>Milford has a drive-in THEATER, not a drive Restaurant, which is what Sonic is. That would be the same as calling a strip club a strip mall. They are not the same. By the way, "strip mall" is a mis-nomer, since malls are enclosed spaces, and a "strip mALL" is really a PLAZA, and should ALWAYS be called as such. Also, how do you know Market Basket owns the land of the former Lowell drive-in theater?
well put, big difference between a resturant and a drive in movie, which are gone for ever unless they develop HD digital out door screens. i dont see that ever becoming a reality.

I hate eating in my car. I also hate fast food. Isnt that what sonic is fast food? Basically Mcdonalds with roller girls. I guess the new Sonic wont look out of place with the gazillion other chain restaurants and fast food joints on 38. Ugh..well at least it'll open up jobs for the kids. That's the only bonus.

Yes, opening up jobs for people is the only "upside" to this.
