OKC City Council supports extending train route

The City Council in Oklahoma City is now formally in support of a plan to extend Amtrak north from the city to Newton, Kan., just north of Wichita.

I love going on Amtrak. We have gone several times on Amtrak. The kids love going on it to. A new route would mean new things to see on the train. BRING IT ON YES!!!!!!

I just tried the train from Ft Worth to OKC and was pleasently surprized. I live out side Wichita ,Ks. and would look forward to be a regular passenager if the route were to be extended to Newton. It would also make events at the Ford Center more attractive.

I am very excited about the idea of a route from Kansas City to Dallas that goes through Newton!
I live in Newton, and such a route would open up more travel opps for central Kansas — our choices are train to LA, train to Chi-town or air from KC or Wichita.
Bottom line, air is getting WAY too expensive — esp. for one-way travel. Trains are the most cost effective way to move goods and people around, and we need to expand rail service nationwide.
