Try being a parent for once and stop trying to be a friend to your kids... a good kick in the a*s does wonders now and again.

Now this is a first. I actually agree with your comment on this. Take the computers away from these bullies and a swift kick in the a*s does work wonders. You are right these kids need parents not friends.

Something about your kid caused the cyberbullying so find out why the other kids don't like him and fix his/her problem.

A good friend of mine is a teacher at a NWAR school and the hardest thing is the parents. Little Johnny or little Susan gets in trouble at school and the parents have to be notified. So the kid goes home and tells a bunch of lies. Next day the parents come to the school "Oh my little darling would never do that" or "My little darling is being picked on by the teacher" type of thing. End result?.... The kid learns how to play one off against the other and does not have to take any consequences. Parents need to stick behind the teachers. And stop expecting the schools to raise there kids.

What Conway does is have dozens of good people who post uplifting and silly things so often that the smut doesn't get thru and people can't find it. If someone posts something bad it disappears thru the crack so fast people can't see it.

Here's a solution: teach your kid(s) to fight. One good ass whooping and people will leave them the hell alone. Some of the best advice my dad ever gave me was that if you stand up for yourself, win or lose, people will respect you. That and if you win you're pretty much guaranteed to curb the amount of people pickin' on you. I don't give a damn what the schools say fighting is good for kids. What are they gonna do when they're in their thirties and getting robbed? Talk the gunman down and convince him the error of his ways?! Yeah friggin' right.

When we were kids, the bullying stopped when we left the playground. Today's kids have to deal with bullying 24/7 because they are connected 24/7. The average kid today sends or receives almost 4,000 text messages per month, and they are online 1 in every 4 waking hours. 80% of kids say that they sleep with their mobile phones so that they won't miss any important messages.

I highly recommend that parents consider using a parental intelligence tool such as uKnowKids ( http://www.uknowkids.com ).

Parental intelligence tools are designed to help parents keep their kids safe from bad guys and bullies online and on the mobile phone by enabling parents to stay actively engaged in their kids' digital world. uKnowKids has a free version of its service, and so parents can try the service out for free.

Full disclosure... I am the CEO of uKnow.com ... the company that powers uKnowKids.

I hope this is helpful to your readers. Stay safe everyone!

My suggestion is that parents of victims of cyber bullying hire that Tod Meuir guy to fry the bullies computers! I witnessed him shut down an entire Topix forum once for folks talking trash and some folks say he crashed all their computers at once!

I totally agree...if there is a way to bully, a bully will. if you are going to complain that your child is being bullied...take away their phones, ipads,,,etc and take them to some self defense classes, out jogging, exercising and teach them to stand up for themselves...you can also block numbers and go to school administration

Bullying is not secluded to the internet. It goes on everyday in everyday life. There are so many rude, inconsiderate bullies in our society. Did you know that 40% of Americans get bullied?

I am thinking more the schools, churches, grandparents shouldn't have to do it. If two adults lay down and make a baby then they should be the ones responsable for its up bringing. My kids knew better to be bulling, making fun off, teasing other kids or adults. I would have beat them to the inch of their lives.
Oh yes! My children got spankings, yep they sure did and my oldest son got the most of them because he was stubarn as a dumb mule. But growning up he knew right from wrong. That is why I think both my boys are good lawyers and my daughter is a good doctor all because they knew what hard work, good morals and being kind to people will get them. I am proud of my kids and what they grew in too and I have a feeling my two young grandsons are going to be raised the same way.

That is just stupid, You think shuting down topix is going to stop bullying? That is like take a spoon away from a killer.. They are just going to find another outlet to do it.
