Astronomers hope asteroid hits Mars

If many scientists get their Christmas wish, an asteroid the size of a Boeing 737 jet will slam into Mars late next month, potentially leaving a crater more than half a mile wide.

IMO this asteroid is similar to the coming KAMALEN/CAMARIN IMPACT event for Guam and the Pacific. i.e. a relatively MINOR EVENT whose true nature or severity will NOT be known or effectively determined by the experts for a time after the event had [already] occurred. This event will likely not be fully ascertained until near or during the summer months of 2008.
