If Marijuana is a medicine and it is prescribed by a Doctor, then it should be available to patients at a Pharmacy. It should be illegal to grow it since it is a drug for medicinal purpose. It should be grown by distributors and distributed to Pharmacies only. Why is it an independent business, because people are abusing the rights.

So is what you are saying is collectives are bad ? We are in no means abusing any rights. As with any business there will be good ones and bad ones. Our collective I consider to be as straight forward and as honest as it gets. We operate as not for profit meaning after the bills are paid any extra must go back into the collective or be donated back into our community and that is whats done. I do realize that ther is alot of collectives profiting and I do not agree with that. This is a means for qualified members to obtain their medicine cheaply and safely. Pharmacy techs know nothing about the substance, they are useless.......... We are trying to become exactly what you described but leave "Big Pharma" out of it. Our collective helps so many people who can not grow there own for whatever reason and the sicker they get we offer delivery service, we are all about the patient/member and their rights....Enough said, good luck Red Bluff Collective and keep up the fight.....:)

California screwed up when it legalized medical marijuana back in 1997. Because the law was not detailed enough to make it legal for terminally ill patients with AIDS, cancer and a few other diseases, it is now accessible to people with almost any ailment. Children are seeing dope doctors who reap huge profits to write them a scrip for things that an aspirin could take care of. Kids and adults get these scrips for almost any pain or ailment and that was not what the original law was sold to the voters to be in 1997.
Marijuana is a dangerous drug in that it leads people into believing that they are better. Well, in fact in the short term they are better. They do feel better and they can hide from their pain. Their pain is really still there but it is being hidden behind this mind altering mask. What happens when that band-aid wears off. You got it, the patient has to smoke some more. So in reality, it is not a cure but a temporary fix that requires the individual to become addicted to the medicine. When doctors prescribe pain killers like Oxycontin for back pain and such, it is usually a temporary fix until the victims pain can subside. The individual receives physical therapy to heal and then they no longer remain on the pain medicine. Show me one pot smoker who has a scrip for marijuana that is going to physical therapy to strengthen their body so they will no longer need the marijuana/medicine.
You see, the scrip is just a loophole for potheads to think that what they are doing is legal. In fact, they are all criminals because they are violating federal law.
Don't fool yourselves and think that medicinal marijuana is being used only by people that should be allowed to use it for medicine. If there really was a strict law that allowed it to be used by terminally ill patients only, as a means to make their final days more comfortable, I would support it. But since the current law doesn't require that, I am glad that Sheriff Parker is cracking down on these drug dealers and cleaning up our community.

Finally a marijuana supporter said it, FINALLY. Most of us are for medical marijuana, but its a bunch of crap that you can pay 200 bucks and get a "prescription" without as much as an exam. That is the problem! Now we open a store near schools and make sure it gets plenty of publicity, C'mon people. Oh yeah, who else wishes Prinz would just please shut up?

How can someone on SSI or SSDI afford $200 just for a referral? It's not even a 'prescripton' Why is it so expensive when it' basically a 10 minute (or less) interview? Come on people, don't you see a rip-off when it's right in front of your face?

And why would anybody pay $200 when it's simple to buy off the street? Possession of less then an once is a simple fine, no jail time period. And with the jails currently packed to the hilt with real criminals it makes no sense to incarcerate somebody for simple possession anyway.

The whole thing is fueled by the almighty dollar and politics. With an estimated 80 billion dollars in annual sales everybody wants their piece of the pie and complete legalization would be a final death blow.

So kick back and roll another one, put on some tunes and remember the words of Dr Timothy Leary, " Tune in, Turn on and Drop out "

Our Collective is all for regulation and has followed what our state has implemented so far. We do feel there needs to be limits for this regulation and most of what the cities and counties are doing is totally against what the law is in this state. Cities and Counties are trying to implement law and regulation on something they know nothing about. If they would have opened there eyes years ago and realized real people who live in there community really use and benefit from medical marijuana use and educated themselves back in 1996 we would not have these problems. But no we have city officials saying stuff like "it's not a marijuana issue it's a land use issue". Just another excuse to strip our rights and keep the civil oppression going. When all they (cities and Counties)need to do is respect and follow the Attorney Generals guidlines which can easily be found right here online. Dr.'s definately need to have some regulation as well. They are doing these Tehama County and Red Bluff Collectives the same as Shasta county is doing to us with the land use crap.....We are over 1000 feet away from schools and that only applies to facilities that allow consumption on the premises and that is not allowed at our collective anyways. There has not been one problem or complaint. We operate in a "zero bullshit manner". There's no one hanging out or stuff like that.We conduct business in a professional manner. This comment forum is supposed to be about the red bluff collective and there ongoing fight......Let's stay on topic folks and no name calling........

AP Newsbreak: New medical marijuana policy issued

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration will not seek to arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws, under new policy guidelines to be sent to federal prosecutors Monday.

Two Justice Department officials described the new policy to The Associated Press, saying prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state laws.

The new policy is a significant departure from the Bush administration, which insisted it would continue to enforce federal anti-pot laws regardless of state codes.

Attorney General Eric Holder said in March that he wanted federal law enforcement officials to pursue those who violate both federal and state law, but it has not been clear how that goal would be put into practice.

A three-page memo spelling out the policy is expected to be sent Monday to federal prosecutors in the 14 states, and also to top officials at the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The memo, the officials said, emphasizes that prosecutors have wide discretion in choosing which cases to pursue, and says it is not a good use of federal manpower to prosecute those who are without a doubt in compliance with state law.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the legal guidance before it is issued.

"This is a major step forward," said Bruce Mirken, communications director for the Marijuana Policy Project. "This change in policy moves the federal government dramatically toward respecting scientific and practical reality."

At the same time, the officials said, the government will still prosecute those who use medical marijuana as a cover for other illegal activity. The memo particularly warns that some suspects may hide old-fashioned drug dealing or other crimes behind a medical marijuana business.

In particular, the memo urges prosecutors to pursue marijuana cases which involve violence, the illegal use of firearms, selling pot to minors, money laundering or other crimes.

Clay Parker just got knocked back a step and every other official who wants to go against state law......This is not some third world country where the people are being controlled by some dictator. The people spoke and we won now it's time for them to listen.Red Bluff Collective your fight got a little easier. Now if we can all beat them at their "Land Use" games we'll have it. Alot of us Collectives are straight and honest so for us DEA and FBI are not a problem anymore. It never ceases to amaze me how much mankind has progressed as far as we have with this much ignorance running rampant. All you conservative closed minded folks can complain till your blue in the face but there is nothing you can do and nothing brings me more joy than watching the people prevail.Medical Marijuana = good for the people and good for economy at state and federal levels.

Time for Clay Parker and the rest of the backwards hicks in Tehama county to join the 21st century. The inane tripe spewed by the federal government for the last 80 years is just that. Inane tripe. Cannabis is a safe an effective medication. Even the federal government has decided to stop persecuting patients using cannabis and legit dispensaries. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/...
