Kugel Mesh Settlements

My wife has been dealing with these issues since 2005. Her case is class 3.
She received a letter last week with a proposed minimum settlement amount. It is much less than what she was expecting. Our lives have been destroyed and she may end up with enough to buy a used car.
She is permanently disabled and disfigured, endless hours in the ER, multiple hospital stays, and of course the ongoing issues she will face for the rest of her life. I'm sure you all know how it is.

Nearly 10 years of our lives we will never get back. For chump change. A terrible thing.

To South County, I can certainly sympathize. I am so sorry for your wife's dilemma. We live in a great country, but there is so much crap going on in the medical community that is simply disgusting. So many people miss DX and others having surgeries that destroy their lives. My mom was a vibrant lady in her elder years, but was killed with pills. I won't hardly take a pill after I saw what she went through. People are quick to judge others, but a walk in our shoes might make them see things in a different light. The small $$ we are getting is nothing. We all suffer now from both physical and mental pain. The good ole USA atty's and corp's are the ones getting rich. My prayers are with everyone dealing with this mesh mess.

I was told pretty much the same as all of you, I had better take what they are offering or I could end up with nothing.
I'm so done with all of this. I just received news that I may have a mass in my stomach. Going in for emergency endoscopy. The dr said it could be scar tissue which is the lesser of 2 evils but the scar tissue is a huge issue as well and why all the scar tissue...? Oh, maybe from the 9 surgeries because of the mesh. Our lives have all changed because of the faulty product but the only one being compensated are the attornys.
God Bless all of you and hope you all can get some normalcy back in your lives.

Ps.
If anyone lives near me and would like to correspond outside of this blog pls let me know. I would like to stay in touch to see how everyone is doing.

Another ER visit and hospital admission last Thursday. Indirectly related to the mesh, but related nonetheless.

It is a sad commentary that the manufacturer can continue despite the devastation it has left in it's wake.

Probably 25 years in lost wages past and future due to the inability to work, but it is OK to offer a miniscule percentage of that? A shortened life? What's that worth?

I'm feeling pretty grumpy right now. God bless.

Just found out that I am going in for another surgery. Because of the multiple surgeries on my abdomen I have developed severe scar tissue that has warped around my stomach causing me not to be able to digest food.
This will never end and the small cash settlement they have offered is so offensive.
Hope that everyone involved is doing ok.

So sorry Lisa in NV to hear of your latest problem. I am still seeing dermatologists to determine if I am allergic to the mesh that is in there now. I have to get a testing kit this week. No end to this mess, but Vodka helps.

Randy, The settlement wasn't great but the attorney's office pushed for no repayment to insurance companies. So I got a little bit more. I did buy a brand new car and move and the car was not an expensive one. But Thursday, I'm having hernia repair and the Doctor is going to put a new mesh in. Wife has form all fixed up to get all of the important info and wants him to sign it. I may wish I didn't do this but there could be a big problem if I don't.
Finally got my offer. Much less than it should have been but in a way more than I thought it might be based on what i been reading on this forum. I signed the papers a week ago and my lawyer said it could take up to 6 months to get my check. Depends if everyone gets there offers back in quickly. Apparently a certain percentage nas to accept. So more waiting

Randy, don't count on the check in 6 months. There are other people involve who have drug their feet and not followed through with what they should have. Go back and read how long the last batch had to wait after being told the checks were in the works. Maybe the next group will be paid without all the problems we had. I hope so.

Why isn't anyone talking about what they were offered? I was not told not to discuss any settlement amounts. I'm offended at 80k before fees for what I've been through and still going thru. The only winners in this are the attorneys.

Lisa I also have problems like yours. We are not suppose to talk about amounts. I have also settled and wish everyone the best.

I have only been told what the offer is and what I would end up with. It is much like you Lisa. I have not received anything to sign. Only got paperwork for Medicare. I did not have Medicare at time of my surgeries so they are not entitled to any subrogation amount, but of course I have to go through the ritual. More waiting as usual. Guess they hope I will die and not get anything.

Jerry, my wife also has medicare but it is secondary to my private insurance. I don't believe medicare paid a dime through any of this.

She did recently receive a form to name the private insurance in case they place a lien on the settlement. That would certainly add insult to injury.

I paid my premiums, they assumed the risk. That's what they do. It seems wrong they would try to claim any damages. Who has really been damaged? We all know the answer to that.

Has anyone heard anything more from their attorney? I'm in Texas and was told June have settlement amount and now it's August. They keep saying a few weeks every time I call. They say they have to wait for everyone's cases to go through Garrenton (sp) for insurance. Any info would help. Thanks

I received a letter about a week ago from my atty. stating they are waiting for paperwork from other attorney's spelling out the settlement amount. As soon as he reviews same he will send to me to sign. I am also waiting for Medicare to send a letter of release stating they are not placing a lien for any amount they paid. I never had Medicare for 18 mo's after my last surgery so they have no claim to anything, but of course this is just more crap to hold up the process. This whole thing has made me so angry at the whole legal system. Every time I see one of those "Mesh" ads on TV it turns my stomach. I am still playing the waiting game and it will soon be 6 years. Who knows how long it will be to actually get a check, even after the papers are signed.

Any word out there on when this injustice will be over. I have waited close to 8 years living with this botched up mesh. Had 3 surgeries so far and scheduling another. Every time I call my attorney I get the same answer. We are working on it. Now I am being told we have to wait to see if insurance companies are due compensation. I suppose I will just keep smiling and waiting!
