I am a parent who is from Pawling. I am saddened as to the death of yet another familiar face in our community. As we are individuals and need to take responsibility for our own actions, there is a bigger problem in our area. The great town of Pawling has nothing for children & teens to do. There isn't an arcade, rollerskating, bowling, movie theatre etc... The kids get caught up in the drinking and partying because we as a community do not have places for them to go. With the amount of teen deaths and sucides on the rise maybe we should offer counseling to all of our junior high and high school students. It appears to be a community problem that is growing. The drug issue in this area is way out of control, and is in need of an intervention. The alcohol is very accessable and the just hanging out happens because this town is too stubborn and or stuck up and for lack of a better word "Booji" to allow the rollerskating, arcade, and positive places to be build on Pawling soil. Lets get our act together Pawling and do something positive for our youth. How many more restaraunts and pizzerias do we really need?

Maybe a better supervision of the car is in order by the parents. Only to and from school and only back and forth for a specific purpose. No car after dark. Parents should check mileage each time. I did this for 3 years on my son. His age 18 until age 21. Also no opposite sex teen ager in the car at any time. Sounds rigid but it works. The other side,is riding in some one elses car. Very hard to regulate.
